Last August I published a blog post on the business that now inhabits the old Trefzger’s space, TequilaRia Wine & Spirits. I met and had a nice conversation with the owner of TequiliaRia, Christell Frausto.
Christell was really nice and she showed me that they were in the process of turning the space in the back of the building into a Chicago-styled restaurant and I took a photo of Christell in the space that they were remodeling. You can see that entire post by clicking here.
Well, they did it and River City Grill is now open for business, so let’s go check out the Grand opening!
Here we are at the Grand Opening of River City Grill.
The Chicago-styled restaurant is located in the same building as TequilaRia, in the spot on Prospect that used to house Trefzger’s Bakery. The restaurant is located in the back of the building and there’s plenty of parking here in their lot.
Let’s go in and take a look around at peoria’s newest dining spot!
It’s very nice in here and check out the menus on the wall.
Wow, what a selection of entrees here! They have over a dozen styles of burgers, lots of sandwich selections, Gyros, Italian Beef, Hot Dogs, Salads and many specialty items!
I decided on my order and you can find out what I got by scrolling on down this post!
There’s a nice selection of soft drinks, juice, sports drinks and water beneath the menus.
You place your order here at the counter and the kitchen is located directly behind it.
Christell who I mentioned earlier and is the owner of River City Grill was out for the afternoon, but here’s a picture I took of her in August at TequiliaRia. Good luck with this new business venture, Christell!
Okay, while our lunch is being prepared, let’s take a look around in River City Grill!
This is a shot from the back of the restaurant, the place has a nice relaxing vibe to it.
There’s a bar for single diners to have a quick bite at near the back counter.
There’s a nice dining area up in the front of the room.
I like the lighting and atmosphere in here, it’s casual and comforting in here.
I decided to sit at a table in the elevated section in the back of the room. My water and napkin are all in place and all is well within my world. So there!
Here’s the view from where I sit.
I love the circular lighting fixtures that hang from the ceiling! they add a nice pop art feel to the place!
And suddenly, lunch is delivered! I got the Gyro dinner which comes with fries and a drink.
The meal looks absolutely fabulous!
The fries were crispy and delicious and now on to the main course…
The Gyro! I wanted to try the Gyro because this is an entree that you can’t find at most restaurants and it’s really a specialized item.
This looks so delicious and it’s huge! I’m glad I came with a large appetite because this is probably the biggest Gyro I’ve ever seen in my life!
Wow, this is a flavorful taste sensation!
The meat is tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The onions and tomatoes add a nice level of falvor and the homemade tzatziki sauce is creamy, rich and really ties the whole thing together.
The toasted pita is bakery fresh and soft and this is one of the best Gyro’s I’ve ever had!
Wow, I can’t believe I ate the whole thing! I think I’ll skip dinner!
This was a fantastic lunch and I love the warm and friendly atmosphere in Peoria’s newest dining destination, the River City Grill!
You definitely need to stop by check out this locally-owned restaurant!
