Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, the Friendly Valley Tavern and featuring musical guest stars, Still Shine!
Now please welcome this week’s host: Friendly Valley Tavern!
Here we are at Friendly Valley Tavern, one of my favorite historical Peoria taverns!
Check out the sign, for these live shows they have a shuttle from the Landmark parking lot around the corner, so there’s handy parking and access for the big crowds that attend these live summer shows!
Wow, look at the beer patio, they’ve redone it since my last visit, it’s looking nice!
Let’s go in and start this Saturday night at Friendly Valley Tavern!
There’s the bar and there’s the two friendly bartenders behind it: Brian and Amy! Nice to see their smiling faces!
There’s the back of the bar with those classic horse photos that have been there since before forever!
They have four beers on tap and one of the few places left that have a working Little Nut Hut!
I love the dark and comfortable coziness in this bar and there’s gaming machines in the back for all of you gamblers out there.
Right off the bat I ran into Brian and Michelle and snapped their photos and then Brian got one of Michelle and I! Wonderful to see both of them, as always!
Let’s head outside and check out this refurbished beer patio out here.
Wow, this is so nice! There’s a wooden roof complete with lights and lots of chairs and tables to enjoy the evening and a few beverages!
There’s the huge back lawn and the stage for the live show tonight, starring Still Shine. I think I see a familiar face by the stage down there.
It’s Still Shine member and personal friend, Bruce Burton with his friend, Marty. Great to see both of them and nice to meet another Marty! You can never have enough of us! I’m looking forward to seeing Bruce on stage with the band!
But first…
It’s time for our Saturday Night dinner!
Nate Dawgs was on the grounds, serving up their unique and delicious hot dogs and sides.
There’s Nate himself and he said business has been great. He travels all over the area and here’s his schedule for this week.
We need to visit him on the MBIP hot dog tour, so stay tuned for that!
I got a side of the waffle fries and they were crispy, seasoned perfectly and delicious.
They have a variety of hot dogs to choose from and I went with the Burnt Cheese Bacon Dawg.
This all beef hot dog has a layer of cheese burnt just perfectly to give it a smoky, distinctive flavor and there’s also crispy and smoky bacon. The bun was bakery fresh and this was one delicious hot dog!
I ran into Linda and Pete in my travels and it was nice to see them and catch up on things.
I see some more familiar faces back at the beer patio, let’s go and say hi to everyone!
What a friendly crowd and it was a blast seeing all of these wonderful folks. From the top:
Michelle and Jen.
Moon.3.Ji
Buddy.
Jim Schwindy.
Mark and Jill.
Michelle and Hayley.
Okay, it’s starting to fill up and it looks like it’s just about showtime!
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the stars of tonight’s musical extravaganza at the Friendly Valley Tavern…
Still Shine!
This is one original and entertaining band! Still Shine has been making joyful music since 2014 and it’s truly an original sound.
It’s acoustic roots progressive bluegrass and it’s highly entertaining good time music!

The crowd is massive and they are loving tonight’s show!
In my travels I ran into Mikey C. and it’s always great to see him and catch up! Love that Dead shirt!
This was a fabulous show and a wonderful evening! It was fabulous to see everyone and a treat to be entertained by the wonderful music of Still Shine!
There’s still four more shows in the Jammin’ On The Lawn concert series at Friendly Valley Tavern, so check those out for sure!
I didn’t run into Sean Kenny, the owner and operator of Friendly Valley Tavern, but I do want to thank him for his wonderful support of live music here in Peoria. Both Friendly Valley Tavern and Sean’s namesake destination, Kenny’s Westside Pub feature some of the best live music in and around Peoria and I thank Sean for bringing this entertainment to Peoria!
Go forth and support both venues!
