We’re up to our seventh week of our summer hot dog eating tour and this week we’re making a stop at MD’s Sports Bar & Grill. I saw that they have a quarter pound hot dog on their menu and that sounds doggone delicious!
So let’s mosey over there and begin week number seven of our Dog Days of Summer tour!
Here we are at MD’s Sports Bar & Grill on University near Pioneer Park. Hey, check out the sign! How did they know we were coming? And yes, our special guest star of the day is Leah and we’ll meet her soon, keep on scrolling!
Let’s go in and luckily I’m unarmed because guns are not allowed on the premises!
Usually I’d sit at the bar, but as the sign gave away, we have a special guest star joining us today, and here she is…
There’s Leah and she’s looking fabulous! I haven’t seen Leah for awhile, so I’m happy she could join us on this doggone summer tour! It’s wonderful to see her and catch up with her!
Our friend Nancy was supposed to join us, but she had to cancel at the last minute so in the next couple of weeks you’ll be seeing Leah again at another lunch with Nancy!
There’s MaryBeth, who owns MD’s along with her son, Dan. Yep, it’s a family affair in here and you can read all about it in this PJ Star article.
Check out the menu, there’s that quarter pound hot dog I told you about!
We started off with an order of Nachos and this is a huge portion, four people could easily split this! It was delicious and nice and spicy. We’re off to a great start.
Now I’m going to abandon Leah and take some pictures in here while our main courses are being prepared.
There’s the bar we saw on the way in and they have half a dozen beers on tap.
They have daily specials in here and there’s gaming machines along the wall opposite the bar.
I love all the dollar bills attached to the ceiling in here!
There’s a game room on the other side of the bar with a pool table, dart boards and a boxing machine.
Out this back door is a huge beer garden and outside bar. They have live music out here and check their facecrack page for the live music updates.
Here’s our main courses, I got the quarter pound hot dog with their homemade chili, chopped onions and shredded cheese. It looks simply fabulous!
Leah got the grilled cheese and ordered it with pickles. Pickles? On a grilled cheese sandwich?
I’ve never heard of such a thing! I’m not quite sure how I feel about this. When she ordered this I was kind of hoping they’d be tucked into the sandwich and not visible.
But here they are, hanging out of the sandwich and on the plate. Am I the only one thinking about Pickles Sorrell right now?
Okay, let’s just move on and try the hot dog of the week!
This hot dog looks simply amazing! I added some mustard and then something pretty horrifying happened at our table…
Leah squirted out some ketchup and then dipped the pickled grilled cheese in it. I prayed this was some sort of sick joke and she wasn’t going to actually eat this. I mean pickles on a grilled cheese sandwich is bad enough, but then dipping it in ketchup?
This has to be Leah playing some food prank on me, she wasn’t going to actually eat this, or was she…
Oh no…in an act of pure defiance, she happily ate her pickled grilled cheese after letting it swim in a sea of kethcup.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything so wrong in my life.
I have just one thing to say here…
No God…please, no, no, no!
Okay, let’s just move on to the hot dog rating. I have to let this go!

Hot Dog Rating
This was a fabulous hot dog! It was a quarter pound all beef hot dog and the chili was beanless, as it should be and the onions and cheese were tasty additions to the mix!
I’ll give this week’s hot dog a nice rating of three and a half Wienermoblies!
Thanks to MaryBeth and everyone at MD’s for a wonderful hot dog and the friendly hospitality.
Thanks to Leah for stopping by and being this week’s special guest star! I hope to see you soon when you, Nancy and I can all have lunch. I just need to find a place that doesn’t have grilled cheese on the menu!
