Live, from Peoria, Illinois it’s Saturday Night Cheeseburger starring this week’s host, Brasky’s Bar & Grill, with special guest stars, Jamie the bartender, Bob Gordon, Gary, Kelly the vodka drinker, Jake the burger maker, Tyler, Mike and featuring the Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, all the way from the North Side of Peoria, please welcome this week’s host, Brasky’s Bar & Grill!
We're headed straight up Knoxville Avenue towards the North side of Peoria to tonight's cheeseburger destination of Brasky's Bar & Grill. They have a deep-fried cheeseburger there and I've never had a deep-fried cheeseburger, so this will be a first!
It's hard to recognize as we zoom on by, but there's Lou's Drive-In, which we visited a little bit ago for the Peoria Hot Dog Wars. Memories...
Here we are at Brasky's Bar & Grill. I love the neon in the windows, let's go in and see what's happening in here on this cheeseburgerly night on the town.
I spy a familiar face at the bar, but let's snag a stool and get a beer before we make any introductions.
And here's that beer, served up by Jamie the pretty and friendly bartender of the evening. Is that a million dollar smile or what?
I told you I saw a familiar face at the bar and it's none other than contributing writer, Bob Gordon! But wait, there's other guest stars lined up at the bar...
Like Gary, who was seated to the left of me...
Tyler and Mike were also enjoying some cocktails at the bar...
And here's Kelly, who only agreed to have her picture taken if Jamie joined her. So Jamie dutifully came on the other side of the bar for a photo. By the way, Kelly had moved on from beer to vodka at this point in the evening, but don't tell anyone, what happens on MBIP stays on MBIP!
I had read that the name of the bar comes from a Saturday Night Live sketch and Jamie confirmed that.
As you can see from the bottles on top of the shelf here at the middle of the bar, there's a big selection of bottled beer to be had here.
There's two sets of taps in here and this is the first one.
And here's the second set. I'm guessing this will rate higher on the Spike-O-Meter, if we get a rating at all. That damn Spike is so unpredictable!
There's a row of round wooden tables directly behind the bar.
Here's a shot of the entire dining room that's situated behind the bar.
Just to mix it up, I walked back and took a shot from the very back of the dining room. So there!
You can get lunch in here for $5.99...such a deal!
A longshot of the wooden bar in here.
As I return to the bar the condiments are out and standing at full attention, it must be cheeseburger time!
And sure enough, here's Jamie with the food!
A baconized "X" marks the spot. This looks like one tasty cheeseburger!
Okay, I've dressed it up with some mustard and pepper and it's ready for tasting...
Wow, this is a great burger. It's deep fried, so it's crunchy on the outside and juicy and moist on the inside. And it's housed in a bakery fresh pretzel bun. It's delicious.
Jamie brought out Jake who cooked the burger. Great work, Jake, you are a burger maker extraordinaire!
And as a special treat, Jamie and Jake surprised us with this plate of homemade corn fritters! Very nice!
Bill Brasky would've covered them in vodka, but I used maple syrup. I haven't had corn fritters in years and these look heavenly!
Wow, what a tasty ending to a wonderful evening. Thanks to Jamie and the cavalcade of guest stars for making this a fun Saturday Night Cheeseburger. See you all tomorrow.
My Cheeseburger
The Brasky Burger is a specialty item on Brasky’s Bar & Grill menu. It’s a deep-fried burger that’s topped with Apple Wood bacon and three kinds of cheeses—American, Swiss and Pepper Jack. That alone is one decadent and tasty burger, but then add a bakery fresh toasted pretzel bun and it really takes it over the top. And speaking of over the top, throw in an order of their homemade corn fritters, liberally dusted with powdered sugar and syrup and it’s a wonderful overload of taste sensations.
Cheeseburger Rating
