When I had lunch with my friend, Stacy Peterson at Cracked Pepper back in April she told me I should do a post on the shop next door called Relics. I peeked in the window and it looked like a cool shop loaded with fun and interesting items. So I put it on my list of places to go to for MBIP.
Well, about a half a year has gone by and I have good news and bad news concerning Relics. The bad news is they closed the shop on Adams next to Cracked Pepper. The good news is that they’ve reopened a new shop at a strip mall on Glen Avenue, right next to Sherman’s and that location is even closer to where I live. So, it’s off to the MBIP mobile we go!
I told you it was close by where I live, look, we're here already...
Let's go in and check this place out.
Wow, it's packed with interesting items in here!
Here's Laurie, who was behind the front counter. Laurie's worked here for three years and encouraged us to take a tour, so let's take a look around in here.
The first thing that caught my eye was this card for our pals over at Urban Artifacts. Very cool that Relics promotes other like-minded local businesses.
Some people wonder, what would Jesus do...
While others ask, "What would Johnny Cash do?" It's all just a reason to believe.
Am I the only one frightened somewhat by these postcards? Let's slowly walk away from them.
Oh deer!
This presentation is a little corny...okay, enough with the bad puns!
The first thing to be happy about is that I don't have a bad pun concerning this photo, you have to supply the other 13,999.
Wow, the keyboard on this phone looks like it would be a little tough to text on!
I gave up on the bad puns a couple of photos back, so insert your own masturbation joke...here.
I love these little letter cards, they literally spell out...
Fun!
Wow, Found Magazine! I didn't know this publication was still in print, very cool!
Why hello, Karen Carpenter! Seriously though, this picture reminds us that it's getting close to...
Halloween!
And there's a whole table up front dedicated to this spooky holiday.
It's equal parts frightful and fun.
Okay, back at MBIP headquarters, here's what I purchased at Relics. I have to admit, my favorite thing is the handwritten receipt, you don't see too many of those these days. And looking at that palmistry book reminds me I need to take care of business, so we'll see you all tomorrow.

Bonus Link To High School Football App!
My friend (and former POP contributor) John Ingles and two of his friends (he told me not to print their names so he would get all of the attention and most of the credit) have invented an app that gives you live high school football scores live, as they happen! I’d try to explain it, but I still think of an app as something you have before dinner. If you’re into apps and you want to keep up with all the Central Illinois high school football games, check out their website here: Illinois Prep Scores. And go over and “like” the page on facecrack, it only takes a second, go on...do it! Here’s a cool story that tells the tale of this unique app: Photo News Story. Hike!
