It’s freezing cold outside tonight, and with the wind chill it’s about 769 degrees below zero. I’ve decided that it’s too cold to drink beer and too cold to venture very far into the night. I think we'll go to Martini’s bar, which is about a 47 second drive from where I work and sample two martinis there. So bundle up and let’s go brave the cold!
Okay, it's just a quick jaunt down Water Street, which tonight could be rechristened, "Ice Cube Street." It is freezing out here! Hey Arsenio, how cold is it tonight?
Brrrr! Let's travel this snowy path and get inside the bar!
Let's get inside before we turn into this.
Aaahh, nice and warm in here, and I love this stained glass bar. This is actually the second time we've visited Martini's. We were here about a year ago and you can check out that trip by clicking here. Okay, let's go grab a seat at the bar.
Tools of the trade hang over my seat at the bar, time to get a drink and warm up in here!
Things happen fast in here. I asked pretty bartender, Rachael to make me a classic martini and she wastes no time as she flies into action making me a dirty gin martini!
And here's martini number one being poured out for consumption.
It's served up with a beautiful smile!
Rachael knows what she's doing, this is one fine tasting martini—cheers!
Let's take a little look around in here before we have martini number two.
Martini's was originally the Rock Island Depot and Freight House train station and the lamp posts are from that era, they used to be outside the station.
There's a comfortable lounge area up front with black leather couches and tables.
The walls are lined with photos from Casablanca. Play it again, Sam!
This is the original Wells Fargo safe from back in the day.
Here's photos of the train station from years ago.
The top of the bar is made from the floor from the train station. I think I see a footprint over there!
Rachael told me this painting was of one of the trains that ran from the station and this painting was originally hung in the old station.
Even though this is a martini bar, they have a decent selection of beer on tap.
Christine, Russ and Kelli were chilling out at the bar and if you look real closely you'll see Rachael doing a classic photobomb behind them! Ha!
Alright, time for martini number two. Rachael said the chocolate martinis in here are very popular, so I thought I'd try one.
Chocolate is not only in the drink, it's on the glass as well.
She pours and...
Adds a chocolate swirl on top.
Time for martini number two!
Wow, the top of it is kind of hypnotizing, but I'm here to tell you, it was one delicious martini! Thanks to Rachael for being such a great host and bartender and we'll see you all tomorrow! And hey...let's be careful out there!
