Halloween is approaching us and in addition to trying to take over the Presidency of this nation, Donald Trump appears to be hijacking this holiday as well! People turning their pumpkins into “Donald Trumpkins” seems to be the big fad this year.
Well, here at MBIP, we’re giving you a choice in this matter regarding the MBIP Halloween Mascot. I happen to prefer going with a “Rupert Pumpkin,” a mascot named after, Rupert Pupkin, the main character in one of my favorite movies, “The King Of Comedy.” But I’m going to let you, the beloved MBIP Readers make that call. Scroll down and you can see what I’m talking about. But first we need to get a pumpkin, so let’s head to the Central Illinois pumpkin headquarters, Tanners Orchard. To the MBIP Mobile!
The MBIP Mobile is zooming up Knoxville/Route 40 North and thankfully there’s plenty of cloud coverage protecting us from that rotten bright sunshine!
I dinged my bumper on a parking block right after I got my car a couple of years ago and have been paranoid about parking too close to curbs and parking blocks ever since. A certain friend of mine who shall remain nameless ***cough Amber cough*** loves to ridicule me for this in quite the mean manner! So I thought she’d appreciate this picture! I think of her every time I look at my car somewhat woefully parked!
And here we are at Tanners Orchard.
The market is over there and we’ll check that out in a minute but first...
We must get a pumpkin! Hey look, some people are taking pictures over there...
It looks like they’re having fun, so let’s join in...
And get a picture of them! From the left, these three pretty ladies are, Sheri, Barb and Diane. Nice to meet them and now it’s back to the pumpkin patch!
There’s certainly a big selection to be had here!
But they all kind of look the same, I want a unique pumpkin for the MBIP Halloween Mascot!
Hey, check out that one over there...
A green pumpkin! I love it and this is going to be the template for our Halloween Mascot.
We have to purchase it over here in the market, let’s go in and take a look around.
Welcome to Tanners! There’s free apple cider samples here, but I’m not a big apple cider fan, so we’ll just keep moving along while singing a song.
Tanners is known for their large selection of apples and here’s a bunch of them bagged, tagged and ready to be purchased.
You can sample the different styles of apples over here.
They also use their apples to make fritters...
And apple cider donuts.
Homemade caramel apples are on display at this table.
There’s a lot of different homemade pastries to choose from in here. Everything looks delicious!
You can get sandwiches in here and the dining area is over there.
It’s not even Halloween yet, so I’m not even going to think about the dreaded, “C” word coming up, let’s just keep moving along!
Mary Beth, Dillon and Letisia rang up the MBIP Pumpkin and they liked my choice of a green pumpkin. Which leads us to this question: Who should we pick for the MBIP Halloween Mascot for 2015? I’m going to let you vote and make the call!
Should it be Donald Trumpkin...
Or Rupert Pumpkin? If you want to vote, simply put your choice in the comments section below. Normally I’d never ask for people to comment, I’m always happy to get comments but know that a lot of people prefer to read the blog and then just move along, which is fine. But this is pretty simple, you can just put, “Donald Trumpkin,” or “Rupert Pumpkin,” for your comment and then we’ll tally the results and I’ll announce a winner tomorrow. You don’t even have to leave your name, you can just put “Anon” or “Anonymous” as your name if you’d like to vote anonymously.
It’ll be a lot more fun if a lot of people participate, so please add your vote if you can! May the best pumpkin win! We’ll announce the winner tomorrow, see you then!
