Live, from Peoria, Illinois it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Hearth with special guest stars including, Hugh, Travis, Seth, Steven, Brent, Danielle, Amber and Joe and featuring The Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, please welcome this week’s Saturday Night host all the way from restaurant row in Peoria Heights, Hearth!
Here we are at Hearth. I’ve seen plenty of bars and restaurants that offer a beer flight, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen a sign advertising a whiskey flight. I just may have to check that out!
Let’s go in and let Saturday night begin!
There’s the place I’m looking for, the bar! Let’s go get settled in!
Behind the bar is the owner of Hearth, Hugh and beside him is the master mixologist, Travis! Usually I have a beer with dinner, but Hearth is known for their signature cocktails, so I ordered up a Moscow Mule.
And here’s Travis mixing it all up. A Moscow Mule is made up of vodka, lime juice, ginger beer and a lime.
And it’s served up in this special copper mug! It looks delicious!
There’s the lone draft beer on tap at the bar, it’s Sierra Nevada. Hugh told me that the draft beer gets rotated with every season.
Hearth also has the distinction of having the most whiskey selections in Peoria. There’s over one hundred styles of whiskey behind the bar. Pretty impressive!
I love that vintage Pabst clock on the wall and there’s another mention of that whiskey flight, we’ll definitely have to try that out!
There’s tables and a wall of wine opposite the bar and three seperate dining rooms in the back of the restaurant.
But we’re eating at the bar and it looks like it’s just about dinner time! Which is perfect timing because I’m starving like you know who over here!
Here’s Chris serving up dinner and adding some fresh cracked pepper to the mix! Love it!
I got the lamb chops with comes with a vegetable medley and Dauphinoise potatoes. It looks and smells delightful!
You can read more about the meal in the review below, but the lamb chops were succulent and delicious and the vegetables and potatoes were way more than side dishes! This was like a tasty three course meal, it was so good!
Here’s two of the chefs responsible for this wonderful meal, Seth and Steven! Great work, guys, dinner was delicious!
And now it’s time to try out that whiskey flight! You can join Hearth’s Whiskey World Tour club for free and you get this passport which is kept at the bar. It records your whiskey flights around the world as you sample them and as you complete certain amounts of flights you get free whiskey glasses, a “Whiskey Ambassador” ball cap and when you complete your Whiskey World Tour your name gets engraved on a Hall of Fame plaque and you receive a diploma and a three course dinner for two! Here’s my passport and let’s take off on this debut whiskey flight!
You can choose your own flights or have a pre-selected one. I chose “My Old Kentucky Home” to start out with because our family lived in Louisville, Kentucky for six years.
Here’s Travis expertly pouring the first flight.
I usually have a fear of flying, but this flight went remarkably smooth! In fact it was delicious! That was a great dinner and whiskey flight and now for a beer dessert at...
The Navy-Marine Club which is handily located right around the corner. And it only took me three swipes to get my member card to open the door...
And here we are! I love this place! That’s Sandy behind the bar serving up an ice-cold can of Budweiser. Cheers!
These two are regulars here, it’s Julie and Bo who own Lucky’s Modern Dive Bar which is also located nearby. I need to stop in there soon!
That's Penny (on the right) who we met at the Fish House last August. I forgot to write her friend’s name down, but they sure make a pretty picture!
Here’s my friends, Brent, Danielle, Amber and Joe! I’m really happy they showed up, the party is in full swing now!
And then suddenly, back at Amber’s house...
This happened! Ha ha ha! I can’t put into words how much I love it when this happens! Thanks to everyone at Hearth, The Navy-Marine Club and to Amber for letting us end the party at her house! It was the best time I’ll never remember! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
I got the Lamb Loin Chops and they did not disappoint! You get three lamb chops with dinner which are pan roasted and served with a rosemary, red wine reduction. The lamb chops were tender, juicy and so flavorful and the wine reduction really brought great flavor to the meal.
The lamb chops came with a really tasty vegetable dish consisting of carrots and butternut squash and they were probably the tastiest vegetables I’ve ever had. The other side dish served with the lamb chops was a French potato dish called, Dauphinoise potatoes. These are the best potatoes I’ve ever eaten in my life! Hugh explained the cooking process, but it’s so involved and multi-layered I can’t begin to remember how they’re prepared and this was before the whiskey flight! Suffice to say they’re cheesy, rich, decadent and delicious!
