I thought we’d try a Greek spin on chicken this week and get a chicken gyro at the Olympia Sports Bar + Grill.
So let’s get the cluck over there and start our 50th week of chicken!
Here we are at Olympia Sports Bar + Grill. I believe this is Peoria’s only Greek restaurant and we last visited this place shortly after it opened in January of 2018.
Wow, that’s almost two years ago, we’re overdue for a visit here!
I went in and settled in at a seat at the bar and…
Bartender Brett was quick to serve up an ice-cold beer! The night is off to a wonderful start!
I was going to get a chicken gyro, but after glancing at the menu I saw they had a Buffalo Chicken Gyro on there and Brett said it was really good, so that’s what I ordered for this week’s chicken dinner!
Here’s the view of the bar from my seat and as you can see from this menu they have an extensive list of draft beers on tap.
They’re all behind the bar, so Brett said he’d take photos of them.
And here they are, thanks to Brett for taking these shots, they turned out great!
There’s tables behind the bar and behind them is a dining room with flat screen TV’s on the walls showing different sporting events.
I love the colorful chalk art in here!
There’s a discreet gaming area in the back of the bar if you’re in a gambling mood.
Meanwhile, back at the bar, the silverware is laid out, so it looks like it’s just about time for this week’s chicken dinner!
And here it is, the Buffalo Chicken Gyro with a side of their homemade onion rings! It looks fabulous!
These onion rings are some of the best I’ve ever had in my life! The batter is light and super crispy and the onion is sweet and tasty!
And now on to the main course, the Buffalo Chicken Gyro!
Wow, this is one giant gyro and I wasn’t sure if I could roll it up, but I managed to do so!
This was so tasty and so many flavors happening! The chicken is tender and juicy with buffalo wing spices heating it up somewhat.
The heat is balanced by the creamy and rich tzatziki sauce, Feta cheese and red onions and it’s housed in bakery-fresh toasted pita bread.
This was so delicious and satisfying!
Chicken Rating
Four Dixie Chickens—This is probably the only Buffalo Chicken Gyro in Peoria, and it is so tasty! I highly recommend it and suggest you stop by the Olympia Sports Bar + Grill and check it out! And don’t forget to order the onion rings!
