Lego Art has become a big thing lately. A couple years ago there was even a traveling Lego Art show that was featured at the Peoria Riverfront Museum back in 2019.
Well, there’s one person here in Peoria that was way ahead of this Lego art craze curve and that Person is Farmer Ted.
Here’s a photo of Farmer Ted (the name comes from his resemblance to Farmer Ted from the movie Sixteen Candles) back in 2013, when I first met him at The Red Barn. He showed me this Red Barn piece of Lego art he made back in 2010 before hardly anyone was doing Lego art. He’s truly a pioneer in this field.
A couple years later, he and his girlfriend, Dawn turned their garage into an entertainment center. Farmer Ted continued to experiment with Lego art and he started creating Star Wars Lego art. That led to him creating his own full-blown, spaced-out Star Wars universe in that garage.
It’s his passion in life and we documented this obsession with visits in 2018 and 2019.
And now, after a two year absence, we’re going to make a post-pandemic visit to Farmer Ted’s Star Wars Garage.
Ladies and gentlemen, strap yourselves in, it’s time for…
Peoria Star Wars III: The Return To Farmer Ted’s Spaced-Out Star Wars Garage!
Here we are back at Peoria’s most unique garage and there’s Farmer Ted standing outside.
Let’s go in and see what this Star Wars Garage looks like in 2021!
I always like to get a photo of it all lit up in the dark. It looks so cool in here!
Litghts, camera, Farmer Ted!
Let’s begin the 2021 tour of Peoria’s only Star Wars Garage!
This is another piece of Ted’s pre-Star Wars Lego art, it’s a tribute to the Chicago Cubs.
The Star Wars art is presented in different sections of the garage, like separate Star Wars villages.
The detail that Ted puts into these villages is incredible!
Here’s another village over here. Ted says that these are ever-changing and he’s always tinkering with the characters and scenery contained within.
He showed me a new addition he created inspired by his girlfriend Dawn.
It’s the Dawn Mothership and inside is a character he created in honor of Dawn. Very cool!
The ceiling has lights and all kinds of Star Wars ships flying overhead.
There’s unique Star Wars Lego art everywhere you look in here and it’s kind of mind-boggling!
Ted has created special “Eater Egg” scenes hidden under rooftops and ceilings.
He has supplies and Lego pieces in cases, tubs and on top of tables in the garage. It’s all a work in progress!
Ted told me that he works in here seven days a week. He works after he’s done with his day job for a few hours and days that he has off of work he’ll spend between 8 to 12 hours constructing his Lego Star Wars art in here. That’s dedication!
There’s so much to see in hear and Ted has truly created Peoria’s most artful garage in the city!
There’s little surprises to be found too, look who’s invaded this Star Wars Village…
It’s Marvin the Martian! Looney Tunes meets Star Wars! I love it!
Thanks for the fun tour Farmer Ted! We’ll see you next year!
