Couch Pilots Podcasts is one of the most unique and consistent podcasts not only in the Peoria area, but in the entire freaking internet!
The idea behind the series is that they review TV pilots they find online but there’s also pre-show banter which is a show and freeform comedy unto itself.
The amazing thing is that the two hosts, Blake Clayton and Jason Tauscher have been doing this weekly podcast (there’s a new episode every Monday) since 2015! In this day and age where people are constantly starting new projects and then abandoning them just as soon as they get their feet off of the ground, this is really to be applauded!
In fact tomorrow is the seventh anniversary of when they started the show and if you want to listen to their debut episode seven years ago, just click here.
They have special guest stars on a lot of the episodes and they invited me last August and it was a total blast!
And so now, I’m thrilled to announce I’ve been invited back, so strap yourselves in for another trip to the Couch Pilots Podcast!

The Studio
There’s the entrance to the Couch Pilots Podcast Flighty Recording Studio.
It’s a state-of-the-art studio in here and there’s even notes! These guys are true professionals and speaking of these guys…
Here they are your Couch Pilots and Co-Hosts, Blake Clayton and Jason Tauscher.
This is pose number 53 from their upcoming book, “Quck and Easy Poses for Podcast Hosts When Some Jerk is Pestering You For a Picture.”
Great to see both of them!
The studio walls and ceiling are like a little weird museum of fun and strangeness!
The bottom photo is their number one fan, Freida Handslobber.
They told me she makes an appearance in the studio now and again and after hearing some of the stories and strange insights from those visits, I got pretty sick, so let’s just move along here.

Ladies and Gentlemen…
The Couch Pilots Podcast Is On The Air!
Please place your gum in your lap and your kneecaps as close to your waist as humanly possible!
Buckle up, here we go! Get ready to enjoy the ride!
The first pilot we discussed was a pilot made for MTV called, “Deadtime Stories.”
You can click on the picture above to watch this pilot on YouTube.
There’s Blake and Jason settling in to discuss the show.
Of course beer is plentiful to keep the conversation lively and colorful.
To me the show was kind of a low budget, horror version of that series, Daria, that was a hit on MTV.
This was not a hit on MTV.
Since everything revolves around me, I talked about the time MTV stole a show idea I had pitched to a producer there from me.
I found out later this happens all the time. This is how I ended up back in Peoria emptying garbage for a living after being in New York for 19 years!
This was a fun episode and here’s the point of view where I’m sitting.
This episode airs a week from next Monday on December 12th and I’ll post a link to it on the blog so you can listen to the whole episode!
They had Butch’s Premium Pizza and beer during the break between taping episodes and the Butch’s pizzas were cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely fabuloso!
Hey, who’s that guy sexually fondling the Miller Lite beer can?
This is this episode’s other special guest star, Kevin Clark, who is a frequent guest star on the show and fills in and does hosting duty when one of the Pilots can’t make an episode. He’s kind of like their Jay Leno back when Johnny Carson was hosting the Tonight Show.
He’s a great guy and he and Jason also host a podcast called Radio Rewind on the Drunken Lullaby Podcast Network.
Wonderful to meet Kevin and now…
Time to take off for the second episode of the evening.
Please keep your hands on your ankles and your feet directly beneath your knees..
This pilot is “Christmas In Tattertown” and once again, click on the above picture if you want to watch this episode on YouTube.
We all agreed this was an episode filled with way too many inside jokes and the writers, producers and janitors for the show all were probably higher than fuck-all when they made this thing!
This was a lot of fun, great to see the Pilots again and to meet Kevin.
Once again, this entire episode will air on December 19th and I’ll put up a link on the blog that day, so stay tuned!
This concludes this broadcasting evening and we are officially “Off The Air.”
Thanks again to the Couch Pilots for having me on as a guest star on this wonderfully entertaining podcast!
