Today we’re heading to Eureka to have lunch at what I’ve heard is a really unique market and grocery store. The name is Braker’s Market and driving us there is…
My friend, Virgil Hargrove, great to see him, as always!
Virgil owns and operates the business, Medical Resources Group Limited. It’s a specialty medical distribution company that specializes in surgery, cardiology, sterile processing and they have a special interest in surgery of the hand.
He’s run this business for over 25 years and they operate in Morton.
It’s a short trip to Eureka…
And before you know it, here we are at Braker’s Market!
I love the building adorned with a pickup truck on the roof!
I’m also intrigued by the word trilogy: “SANDWICH • TOYS • SKIRTS.”
It’s hypnotizing…sandwich, toys, skirts…sandwich, toys, skirts…okay, I've got to let this go!
Check out another signature Braker’s pickup truck over there in a Christmas tree display and there’s outside seating here, but we’re headed inside to check out the market and grocery store and then get some lunch!
Virgil leads the way inside and this is quite a store in here! There’s foods of every variety, many that you don’t see at most grocery stores and markets.
They even have their own line of bottled Braker’s Market sauces and foods in here.
They also make and blend a line of different flavors and styles of homemade peanut butter, nice!
There’s also lots of non-food items including these Christmas gifts and goodies on display in here for purchase.
The deli in here is huge and very impressive and there’s also a nice coffee bar at the end of it.
They have a cafe in here too and you order over here. There’s a menu on the wall and a board with the daily specials.
This pretty young woman took our order, she told me her name, but like an idiot, I forgot to write it down, but it was wonderful to meet her. Everyone in here is super-friendly!
There’s a nice dining room in the back with communal tables. There’s Virgil at the one we decided to plop down and enjoy our lunch at.
There’s Virgil’s sandwich, it’s turkey, bacon, avocado with provolone cheese on rye bread. It looks fantastic and he raved about how delicious it was!
I got two of the specials of the day, the chicken wild rice soup and the Sloppy Joe sandwich. They look absolutely fabulous!
The soup was creamy and delicious, nothing better than homemade soup!
The Sloppy Joe was so tasty!
Savory loose meat ground beef in a tangy and savory sauce, there was melted cheese at the bottom and it was housed in a bakery-fresh bun. What a tasty and fresh lunch!
But wait a stinking second here…we’ve seen the toys…we had delicious sandwiches…but where’s the skirts?
Oh, wait a second, what’s that over there…
It’s the Skirt Place!
I’m so glad we didn’t have to…ahem…skirt the issue!
Oof, sorry about that, I couldn’t help myself!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…to have lunch and wander around Braker’s Market!
Thanks to Virgil for driving and hanging out for the afternoon! It was a fun day!
