We’re up to the second shop of our holiday tour of local retail stores for our Eight Shops of Xmas. This week we’re stopping in at a store where if you can’t find something for a gift, well then everyone on your list is a zombie and I’m not talking Rod Argent either. And of course now I’m wondering will anyone get that reference?
Who knows? Let’s head on over to Acme Comics & Books and continue our eight stops at eight shops!
Here we are at Acme Comics, one of Peoria’s most unique and original shops and it’s been in business for decades.
Let’s go in and see what’s happening!
I see a familiar face over there behind the counter…it’s the esteemed owner and operator of ACME Comics, Bob Gordon holding a holiday comic book.
He showed me a whole line of festive comics on sale for this holiday season.
Wow, these are all great stocking stuffers! Or should I say, “super” stocking stuffers considering the subject material!
And of course there’s plenty of other comic books available in here, this is ACME COMICS after all!
But there’s much more here than comics, a glace at some of the treasures here in the front counter reveals that.
Two local artists are featured above the counter, there’s items from Jeremy Berkley in the first photo and below that are Mani-Yack creations from Jeff Carlson. Nice to see Bob supporting these talented local artists.
The store has a wide inventory of comics, toys, collectibles and you could spend days in here and not see everything. Here’s a small sampling of some of the fun items on display in here.
Vinyl albums have made a big comeback and there’s a nice selection of albums over here on the back wall. And there’s some Christmas selections for your holiday parties and get togethers!
There’s also a huge selection of compact discs and DVD’s over in the area of ACME.
I love this line of Little Golden Books featuring modern day subjects. The Bob Ross one really cracked me up for some reason!
And there’s Captain and Salty, always love to see them in here!
In addition to the wide variety of comics, toys, albums, CD’s, DVD’s, books and collectible items, you can also purchase an ACME Gift Certificate here for someone to come in and pick out some treasures of their own choosing.
And if you need some extra cash for the holiday season, Bob is always looking for used comics, records, CD’s, toys and collectibles. If you have items like this collecting dust in your house, bring them in to ACME and turn them into instant cash!
