Today we’re headed off to one of my favorite Peoria places, Castle’s Patio Inn. I’ve been going to the Patio Inn since the ’70’s, when I used to come to the place armed with a fake I.D. to enjoy some underage beer and cheese!
After all these years the place is still standing in the same spot and hasn’t changed much through the years and that’s a good thing. Castle’s Patio Inn is one place that familiarity doesn’t breed contempt!
We’re meeting MBIP Pal and Wheelman, Scott Turley and Scott told me he was bringing a mystery guest with a special surprise! I’m wondering it it’s going to be a hooker with an 8-ball of blow!
Let’s go and start this festive lunch!
Here we are at Castle’s Patio Inn, a legendary Peoria drinking and dining destination on the corner of Loucks, just off of Sheridan Road.
Let’s go in to The Cheesiest Place In Town! I love the festive bells on the door!
There’s the bar and Nadine is the friendly and cute bartender on duty today. I always love to see her smiling face!
There’s the quartet of taps behind the bar and the wooden crates that house the legendary Castle’s Patio Inn cheese barrels!
That multi-colored reindeer is a nice holiday addition!
I love those historic Patio Inn photos from years ago. Check out that state-of-the-art jukebox and today’s daily specials.
They have a nice private gaming room in the back corner of the room.
Here’s the local Peoria literary section of Castle’s Patio Inn and I’m proud to be part of it!
There’s Michelle, the pretty owner of Castle’s Patio Inn and she’s owned it for over a year now and has really done some great things here!
She just designed this mini poster showing over 20 Illinois-made liquors available at the bar. You can read all about it here and Illinois-made drinks are a dollar off on Tuesdays!
And here’s our luncheon guest star, Scott Turley with the mystery guest, his brother, Jerry! Great to see both of them and we settled in at this table over here.
Then they unveiled the surprise that Scott had told me about…
It’s a Joan Jett clock that was handmade by Jerry!
This is so cool and thanks so much to Jerry for this fantastic one-of-a-kind, handmade gift! What a cool and unique gift! Click here to see The Beatles clock Jerry made for Scott!
Thanks Jerry, it’s going up on the wall at MBIP World Headquarters as soon as I get home! I love it!
And speaking of gifts, I brought Scott a festive “Bag Of Xmas Bullshit. Ho, Ho and Ho!” I got Scott some fun items from my shopping trip at Urban Artifacts that was highlighted yesterday!
We got some of the legendary Castle’s Patio Inn Cheese and Ritz Crackers for a pre-lunch appetizer.
It was a delicious cheesy treat, as always!
There’s Nadine delivering our lunch orders with her fabulous smile!
Jerry got the Italian Beef and Scott and I got the Special of the Day, The Loose Meat Sandwich. Everything looks tasty and delicious!
Jerry’s getting ready to dig in and there’s Scott leaning in for the legendary “Turley bite!” I think he devoured half of that sandwich with that massive bite!
This Loose Meat Sandwich was a savory and tasty treat!
The loose meat is seasoned perfectly and it’s cooked with sliced onions and a dollop of the Castle’s Patio Inn Cheese.
What a fabulous and satisfying sandwich on a blustery winter day!
As soon as I got back to MBIP World Headquarters, I hung up this wonderful Joan Jett clock that Jerry made and gifted to me! I love it!
Thanks so much, Jerry and thanks to Scott for buying lunch!
What a fabulous and festive day!
