A little over a year ago I went to the Halloween celebration at Soderstrom Castle. It was a lot of fun, so when I saw they were having a Christmas Open House this year, I bought a ticket, went last Friday and of course took photos!
They’re having several more Christmas open house evening’s before the 25th (click here for more information), so here’s a preview if you’re thinking about going in the next couple of weeks.
Here we are at Soderstrom Castle and it’s all lit up for Christmas.
I couldn’t get a shot of the complete outside of the castle because a couple large trees are in front and that part wasn’t lit up
It was foggy outside and gave the photos a somewhat eerie feel to them. The ghost of Christmas MBIP!
There’s the front door, let’s go in and start the open house tour!
Here’s the front room all decorated nicely in sparkly Christmas cheer. The tour lets you roam the castle all on your own, which is nice.
It’s not a guided tour, so you can move along at your own pace and look at things and check it all out.
One of the main things on display here is some of the framed Christmas Cards from the Rolan Johnson collection.
These are legendary holiday cards from Peoria’s history and you can read all about them here.
There’s nice artwork in here along with all of the wonderful Christmas displays!
Here we are up on the second level of the Soderstrom Castle.
There was live piano music up here, nice!
Check out all of the holiday items on display in here, very festive!
This long dining table presentation was a nice touch!
The back room had a pool in it. I never knew there was a pool back here and there was also a telephone booth, an impressive lit up fireplace and a colorful and sparkly Christmas tree on display.
This was a fun and festive tour of the Christmas decorated Soderstrom Castle. Happy holidays everyone!
