I just realized that I haven’t stopped in at The Chef & The Baker in quite some time. Luckily, it’s lunch time, so let’s get over there and correct this situation with another episode of Lunch At First Bite!
To the MBIP Mobile!
Here we are at The Chef & The Baker. They’re located on McClure Avenue just off of Knoxville.
Before we go in, check out the mural on the side wall of the building. This is a work of art by international artist, Ard Doko and it’s really a cool addition to the building and neighborhood!
Nice to have this kind of artwork in the area!
Okay, let’s go in and start this week’s luncheon adventure! But first, check out the silo unplanned obligatory mirror photo in the doorway. I love it when that happens!
Here we are inside and behind the counter are the Chef and the Baker, Karen and Ian, the friendly owners and the brains behind this local business.
Karen and Ian are super friendly people and welcome everyone who comes in with a super-friendly vibe that’s really a welcoming and nice feeling.
It’s always a pleasure to see them and hang out with them and it was great to catch up with them!
We have a special luncheon guest today and that special guest is none other than local author Tricia Nimmo, A.K.A. P.A. Nimmo.
Tricia had her book, Running Blind In Traffic published last year and it’s a wonderful tale of her interesting life. She’s working on part II of her tale, so you need to check this one out before that comes out to keep up to date.
Tricia will be signing copies of her book at the Book Rack Book Store and Gifts this Saturday. The Book Rack is loczted at 4408 N. Knoville in the Oak Cliff Shopping Center at the corner of Knoxville and Lake Avenue.
She’ll be there from 11am to 1pm, so stop by and pick up an autographed edition of this wonderful locally written novel!
I love the murals in here, more locally drawn artwork that makes this place so much fun!
Check out some of The Baker’s handiwork in here via the sweet cupcakes in the front baker’s case! These are some sweet treats you should definitely check out!
Even the tables in here are unique pieces of art.
The top one is a tribute to our local police force and below is bottle-top piece of table art. Very cool!
There’s a second dining room opposite the main room with more tables and seating available.
I love all the pictures and art on the walls in here!
Meanwhile, back in the front dining room…
Karen is serving up this week’s luncheon selections!
Tricia got the daily special, the lasagna that comes with a slice of fresh-baked garlic bread and I got the Beef and Cheddar Sandwich.
Tricia raved about the homemade lasagna and said it was delicious!
My beef and cheddar sandwich was equally scrumptious!
There’s generous slices of beef and cheddar cheese with lettuce and I added some house-made yellow mustard to the homemade bread and this was a delightful and delicious sandwich.
If you’ve never had lunch at The Chef & The Baker, you definitely need to check out the wonderful home-styled food and friendly vibes in here.
It’s really a locally-owned gem and treat!
I took a photo of Tricia taking a photo of The Chef & The Baker on our way out.
Wonderful to see them and thanks to them for the delicious lunch and fun afternoon at The Chef & The Baker.
Thanks to Tricia for joining me and don’t miss her book signing this Saturday! It’s not often you get to meet a local author so go meet Tricia and support this super book!
