If you’re a regular reader of this blog—and if you’re not, what the fuck is wrong with you?—you may remember me being a guest on a podcast called, Couch Pilots Podcast. This was a podcast hosted by Jason and Blake and it revolved around failed television pilots. It was a fun podcast to listen to and also to be a guest on.
They recently ended the podcast after producing one every week for 400 episodes! And they never missed one weekly episode! Very impressive!
Jason, as I previously mentioned, was the co-host of Couch Pilots and he’s now a co-host on another podcast called, Radio Rewind. He and two other hosts produce the show on a weekly basis and they invited me to be a guest star on a couple of episodes and remembering the fun and laughs I had guesting on Couch Pilots, of course I agreed to the invitation.
And Jason was nice enough to give me a ride so I could have a beer or five while recording these episodes, in fact, if you scroll down, I think you’ll see that we’ve already taken off!
There’s Jason behind the wheel and we’re off to the Radio Rewind Studio, which is also known as Jason’s home.
The first thing you notice when you walk in is Jason’s bottle-cap covered refrigerator!
What fantastic piece of refrigerator/bottle-cap art!
The radio show is recorded in the middle of the front room of Jason’s house and there’s Dustin, who’s another host of the show, setting up for the show.
We’ll properly introduce all three hosts soon!
Okay, the studio is all set up and now, ladies and gentlemen, we now present…
Radio Rewind!
They usually tape two episodes an evening and here we go with episode one!
Your hosts for Radio Rewind are from top: Jason, Dustin and Kevin.
They describe this show as: “A weekly music podcast pitting songs head to head from 10, 20, 30, and 40 years ago!”
Basically, they take songs from the Billboard Hot 100 top ten from different decades and pit them against each other. The show is best described by the hosts in the opening of the debut show which aired on January 28, 2022.
While the show is anchored in discussing the top ten hits from different decades, it’s entertaining because the conversation veers into stories and fun facts from all over the board.
These three play off of each other perfectly and they all bring a unique sense of fun, storytelling and captivating talk to the show.
The subject matter is grounded in music, but you’ll also be entertained by the spontaneous and sometimes wild conversation these three bring to the table.
Pizza Break!
After the first episode was taped, Jason generously cooked up a couple of Butch’s Pizzas and we took a delicious pizza and beer break!
While everyone was enjoying pizza and getting ready to tape another episode, I wandered around Jason’s house and took a few snapshots of some of the cool items and artwork on display. This place is like a museum of coolness in here!
This is just the tip of the iceberg, there’s lots of interesting and one-of-a-kind things to feast your eyes at on display in here!
And here’s Radio Rewind’s biggest fan in attendance tonight!
Okay time for the taping of…
The Second Episode of the Evening!
As I mentioned earlier, they tape two episodes in an evening and they graciously invited me to be a part of this one as well.
I have a link at the bottom of this post to the first episode we taped and will post a link to this second one next week, stay tuned!
Here they are discussing more hits from different decades and wandering into varous other fun and interesting talk that fills up each episode of Radio Rewind.
