Okay, we’re up to the sixteenth week of this corny tour and we’ve probably got about two or three more weeks left and then we’re going to wrap this food tour up and start a new one. I’ll keep you updated from week to week.
This week, I thought we’d try a frozen corn dog from the grocery store because we haven’t tried one of those yet and I wanted to give it a shot before we call it quits for this corn dog tour.
So it’s off to the store we go!
Here we are at Schnucks grocery store on University. Let’s go in and find the frozen corn dog section.
I had a weird flashback memory taking photos in here. I think the last time I took photos in here was in March of 2020, the weekend that the pandemic blew into town. That was certainly a disturbing night in here and you can see the photos by clicking here. It was a weird night, but I’m glad I have documentation from it.
Okay, there’s the frozen corn dog section, let’s grab a box and get this week’s corn dog post rolling!
I chose the Foster Farms frozen corn dogs. They’re “Honey Crunchy and double dipped in honey batter.” Sweet!
And this is a special Breaking Bad edition of our corn dog tour!
My friend Blondie gave me a set of Breaking Bad cooking mitts and potholder set for Christmas and my friends and frequent blog guests, Amber and Joe gave me two bottles of Breaking Bad soft drinks! Nice!
I thought I’d make a sauce for the corn dog utilizing just three ingredients: Texas Pete’s Hot Sauce, Sandwich Pal Jalapeno Mustard and Shredded Cheddar Cheese.
We’ll put the frozen corn dog in the pre-heated oven and let that bake.
While we make our spicy mustard, cheese sauce..
We’ll mix this trifecta of ingredients together on the stove and let them melt into a nice spicy and rich cheese sauce.
Okay, about ten minutes later, the corn dog is all cooked and I’ve transferred the cheese sauce to a plastic cup for easy dipping.
There it is, the 16th corn dog of the tour, Breaking Bad style!
I dunked the dog into the cheese mixture and the sauce was thick, rich and had just the right amount of heat from the hot sauce!
The corn dog itself was nice and crucnchy and the breading had a nice flavor. The hot dog itself was a little bland and was saved by the tasty cheese sauce!
The Breaking Bad soft drink was really tasty. It had a blueberry flavor and had a little kick, just like Heisenberg when he’s in trouble!

CORN DOG RATING
{Based On A Four Corn Dog Rating System)
I’ll give this frozen corn dog a two and three quarters rating, which is pretty good for a frozen corn dog. The cheese sauce certainly took it to a higher level!
Thanks to Blondie and Amber and Joe for the Breaking Bad gifts! I love them and they certainly added an extra layer of fun to this corny episode!
