I was busy last week and kind of forgot about going somewhere for this doughnut tour. I was going over my schedule on Sunday and realized I hadn’t gone anywhere for the weekly doughnuts.
I was going on a road trip with MBIP Pal and Wheelman, Scott Turley on Sunday, so I couldn’t do it that day and that only left me with yesterday to go and find a place to get this weeks doughnuts from.
I live about two minutes from Le Bakery, in the Metro Centre and I checked out their schedule and they’re open on Monday from seven in the morning till five in the afternoon.
So, yesterday, I went over there around one in the afternoon after posting yesterday’s blog and now we’ll head back to that moment in time!
Well, I came here to Le Bakery, went in and looked around and didn’t see any doughnuts. Lots of cakes, pies, pastries and other sweet treats, but no doughnuts.
i inquired to one of the women working behind the counter and she said that they don’t make doughnuts at their bakery.
Nuts, it’s Monday afternoon and I need to get this done by Tuesday…the clock is ticking.
Then I had a brainstorm, Schnucks is right next door and they have a bakery, plus it’s just minutes from the MBIP World Headquarters, so I can get this wrapped up quickly as I have other things to get done today.
Off to Schnucks we go!
I walked in and headed over to the wall where the bakery goods are and it’s not there anymore!
What the hell, I’m in here about every day and I never noticed they took it out. Now it’s just lined with food items.
There’s some bakery items on the tables over here, but the only doughnuts are these apple doughnuts which I’m not a big fan of. Plus, I want to get two separate styles of doughnuts, not a six pack of the same thing.
Okay, I just had another brainstorm!
We’ll go up the street to Tadoughs. Maybe the owner will be there this week and I can take some photos in there, but if not, we’ll just get them to go.
I have other stuff to do today, so I need to get this stupid post over and done with.
Off to Tadoughs we go!
Okay, this is starting to feel like a bad dream where I’m running and running and not getting anywhere.
Tadoughs is closed on Monda;ys. This sucks monkey lungs on toast!
A lesser man would quit right here, right now and just take a vacation day from the blog tomorrow, but I have one more idea…
Hy-Vee in the Grand Prairie Shopping Area is huge, I even did a blog about how big it is in here when they first opened back in 2015.
2015? I can’t believe that was nine years ago!
One of the big sections in here is a bakery and there it is right over there.
Please, if there is any semblance of some sort of a god out there, let there be doughnuts in that bakery!
There’s the case, this is the moment of doughnut truth, let’s approach it and see if we can finally put an end to this nightmarish doughnut quest we’re on!
Houston, we have doughnuts!
And there’s a huge selection of freshly made doughnuts in this case!
Natalie was working behind the counter and she helped me select this week’s two doughnuts and even posed for the MBIP Camera flashing a beautiful smile!
All the sudden all is well in our world again! Thanks to Natalie and Hy-Vee for saving this doughnut day!
We’ll purchase the doughnuts and head back to MBIP World Headquarters Tasting Area and try them out.
We’re back at MBIP World Headquarters Tasting Area, now let’s plate this week’s sweet doughnut selections!
I got a Vanilla Iced Yeast Ring and the Hy-Vee Donut of the Month, which Natalie said was a pumpkin doughnut.
I’ve never had a pumpkin doughnut, so let’s try that out first.
It’s a cake doughnut with light icing covering the outside.
It didn’t have a lot of pumpkin flavor, but it was sweet and delicious, more like a cake version of a glazed doughnut. We’re off to a great start!
I’ve never had a doughnut called an “Iced Yeast Ring” but that was the description of this vanilla frosted doughnut.
Wow, this is really a light and tasty doughnut! The vanilla frosting is sweet and the doughnut is one of the lightest doughnuts I’ve ever had. It’s like biting into a sweet cloud of goodness! Very nice!

Doughnut Rating
I’ll give the Hy-Vee doughnuts a well-deserved high rating of three and a quarter Mr. Donuts.
Hy-Vee has a wonderful bakery section and a great choice of doughnuts to choose from.
Thanks to Natalie and everyone there for saving this doughnut day and post!
