Okay, it’s time for our monthly fried chicken dinner, if you’re not sure what I’m talking about, click here and read last month’s clucked up post.
My cousin Jeff is the fried chicken expert, so I’m just following his lead and going where he tells me to go. And this month we’re off to the Thursday Night Fried Chicken Night at The Owl’s Nest in West Peoria.
Let’s get the cluck out of here and go get some fried chicken. It’s that time of the month!
Here we are at The Owl’s Nest Tavern, a West Peoria landmark. I love the painted windows with the owls on them!
Okay, let’s go in and begin our second month of fried chicken dinners!
Wow, it’s packed in here, I guess their Thursday Fried Chicken Special is popular here in West Peoria!
I ran into my friend and frequent MBIP Guest Star, Artie Fowler at the bar. He said he loves the Thursday Night Fried Chicken dinners in here. Always great to see Artie!
There’s another room right through this doorway here.
It’s got a pool table, gaming machines and I love the lit-up Budweiser sign!
There’s also a dining area here and that’s our table down at the end of the room. Now it’s time to meet this month’s fried chicken eaters!
At the top is the Chicken-Master himself, my cousin Jeff, my brother Tom and a new addition to the Fried Chicken Club, Floyd Wombacher! Floyd and I have followed each other on facecrack, but this is the first time meeting him.
We’re not quite sure how we’re related, but there’s definitely a fried chicken connection happening here tonight and great to have him join this fried crew!
As we scanned the menu for an appetizer, Courtney our cute server came over and reminded me that she had waited on our Christmas Eve party at Chili’s back in 2015! She said she gave birth a few days after that day! That photo is above and you can see the entire post by clicking here. Wonderful to see Courtney again!
We got an order of the Cheese Balls and Homemade Onion Rings for appetizers and both were delicious. The Homemade Onion Rings were really crispy, seasoned perfectly and very tasty!
And here’s Courtney with the stars of tonight’s show, the fried chicken dinners!
The twelve dollar fried chicken dinners comes with four pieces of chicken and two sides. We all got the Cole Slaw and Jeff and I got the French Fries while Floyd and Tom each got an order of the Cheesy Potatoes.
The side dishes were tasty and homemade right here at Owl’s nest and now it’s on to the main course and the reason for this gathering…
The Fried Chicken!
This Fried Chicken is delicious! It’s crispy on the outside, seasoned to perfection and meaty and juicy inside! It’s a real treat and we all agreed this is top-notch fried chicken!
There’s everyone enjoying the evening’s fried chicken offering at Owl’s Nest!
I could only eat half of the dinner, it was huge and for twelve bucks, it’s one of the best deals in Peoria!
I thought Jeff was done, but after I took that photo, he said there was still some meat left on the bones and he picked them clean!
No one can can eat fried chicken like Jeff, he picks the bones clean!
There’s Floyd armed with the leftovers and there’s this month’s fried chicken crew, stuffed and satisfied at the Owl’s Nest!

THE FRIED CHICKEN DINING EXPERIENCE
The Owl’s Nest is a legendary West Peoria Tavern. It’s been in operation as long as I can remember and it’s definitely a neighborhood favorite.
The service was fantastic but it was definitely crowded and we lucked out, because shortly after we ordered our chicken dinners, they ran out of chicken!
The Chicken Dinner Dining Experience get a three out of four rating, it was a fun evening at the crowded tavern!
