The band Blondie cut their teeth in New York City in the ‘70’s playing at venues like CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City alongside The Ramones, Talking Heads, Television and the New York Dolls.
In 1978 Blondie released the album, “Parallel Lines” produced by Mike Chapman. 45 years ago on April 28th, 1979, the fourth single from that album, “Heart of Glass,” hit the number one spot on the Billboard Charts and suddenly the band were transported from CBGB’s and the New York punk clubs to bigger venues across the country and international popularity.
Since today is the 45TH anniversary of their groundbreaking single going to the number one spot back in 1979, I have a half dozen links to online articles and a link to a video documentary about the song “Heart of Glass” and the album it was featured on, “Parallel Lines.”
And of course below that are the Coming Attractions for the upcoming week here on MBIP!
