Okay, I’m working on my forthcoming book which discusses my writing career in the first two chapters and then veers into my blog, A Guy Walks Into 365 Bars. I’m going to re-visit 19 of those bars to take a look at them 15 years later and each bar will also represent my 19 years that I lived in New York while pursuing a writing career and all of the adventures that happened in those years.
I’ve made a list of these 19 bars and I’ll be listing them here on the blog on a weekly basis when I have time. Here’s the third bar on the list, Keens Steakhouse Bar.
Keens Steakhouse is a classic New York City restaurant that has been in operation since 1885. It’s a classic New York dining and drinking destination and I went to their bar for my 22nd stop on my tour of 365 bars back in 2010.
The beginning of this blog was the worst, because while people liked the idea of someone doing a blog and documenting someone going to 365 bars in a row, most doubted that I’d be able to accomplish this. Let’s go inside and see some photos of my 22nd bar in a classic NYC environment back in 2010.
Greg was the bartender back then, I wonder what he’s up to these days? If you’re out there and see this Greg, drop us a comment!
I don’t know why or who I’m saluting, but there you go! Salute!
Here I am receiving my dinner and this is a hidden item that’s not on the menu. It’s the Prime Rib Hash and you can only order it at the bar. Someone told me about this years earlier when I was in here and it’s a delicious and tasty treat!
It’s served with a fried egg on top and it is so delicious! It’s also a secret, so don’t tell anyone! I’ll be anxious to see if this is still a secret item when I return this year!
This guy stared at me the whole evening! We’ll see if he’s still in this corner when I return this year!
