It’s that time of the month…no, not that time of the month, it’s that time of the month for our monthly fried chicken dinner!
Midway Duck Inn located in Lowpoint, Illinois bills themselves as “Famous For Their Pan Fried Chicken,” so we decided to take them up on that claim and they’re our fried chicken destination for the month of May.
Let’s gather up the fried chicken gang and head over to Midway Duck Inn!
Here we are at Midway Duck Inn, I love the rustic look and feel of this place.
We have no guns or dogs, so let’s go in and begin this month’s fried chicken adventure!
There’s the MBIP monthly fried chicken gang…
From the top, Floyd, Jeff and Tom. Great to see all of them and now let’s check out the menu.
Check it out, we got a special welcome on the menu, that was a nice surprise!
Robin was our friendly and lovely waitress and she was our waitress last January when I had a Saturday night dinner here with my friend, Artie!
Great to see her again. She took our dinner orders and now I’m off to take some photos in here. It’s what I do!
I love all the wood paneled walls and the welcoming, rustic vibe in here!
They have a nice bar area opposite the dining rooms and I saw two familiar faces after I took the first photo in here.
It’s the owners of Midway Duck Inn, Megan and Todd! Wonderful to see both of them and they’re looking fantastic as always! It was nice to chat and catch up with them.
Here’s a shot from the back of the bar and there’s gaming machines in here if you’re feeling lucky.
Now that’s it’s warm outside, they’ve opened up this nice patio area for outside drinking and dining.
Meanwhile, back at our table…
It’s dinner time!
We started off with some appetizers that we all shared.
We got an order of the fresh fried onion rings, the lobster French fries and two orders of corn fritters with three of the seasonal pineapple fritters.
All of the appetizers were so tasty and delicious! The onion rings were light and crispy, the corn fritters are some of the best I’ve ever had in my life and the lobster fries were rich and downright decadent!
I could’ve called it a night after these tasty treats, but there’s more to come!
Floyd, Jeff and Tom all got salads and I go the homemade chicken and noodle soup. They enjoyed the salads and the soup was savory and delicious!
There’s Jeff, Tom and Floyd enjoying the dinner. This is always a fun evening and get together!
And now, it’s time for the star of the show, the pan fried chicken!
Floyd got the half dark meat with fries, Jeff got the half mixed with mashed potatoes and gravy, I went with a quarter white meat and au gratin potatoes and Tom broke free from the friend chicken theme and got an order of Chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes and gravy.
Everything looks fabulous!
I can see why they’re famous for this pan fried chicken!
It’s tasty and juicy and the pan-frying gives the crust such a tasty and crispy coating! This is really first class fried chicken!
The au gratin potatoes were wonderful, rich and delicious.
Floyd and Jeff enjoyed their chicken dinners and sides and Tom raved about the Chicken Marsala and gave it a high rating.
As always, Jeff is the winner of the “Clean Plate Club” for the evening! Nice work, Jeff!
This was a fun and wonderful evening and thanks to Midway Duck Inn for the fabulous service and food. Thanks to Jeff, Tom and Floyd for coming out for our third month of fried chicken! Nine more to go!
