Well, it’s that time of the month…no, not that time of the month, it’s time for the monthly Scott Turley Road Trip!
Scott found a place in Pekin called, Whiskey…Hey, what’s that, someone’s at the door…
Willie Nelson! No, I wasn’t shouting out a request for Whiskey River, Willie. Why don’t you go get a little more high, okay? See ya!
As I was saying, Scott found a fairly new place in Pekin called Whiskey Taco, so that’s today’s road trip destination.
Whoops-a-doozie, there goes the door again, let’s see who it is this time…
Okay, it’s MBIP Pal and Wheelman and the mastermind behind the monthly Scott Turley Road Trip, Scott Turley! I love that shirt, now let’s hit the road!
There he is behind the wheel steering us into Pekin, Illinois.
Here we are at Whiskey Taco. This place opened up last August, it was previously known as Dublin Pub and we did a blog from here about five years ago. Time for a return visit and there’s Scott leading the way in.
I like the open dining area up front and it says to wait to be seated, but we’re going to sit over here at the bar, so we just plowed our way in and plopped ourselves down and settled in for the afternoon!
Lynzie was the pretty and friendly bartender on duty and here she is serving up the first margarita of the afternoon. There would be several more served as the day wore on and they were delcious!
Lynzie also took our food order, things are all going smoothly this wonderful afternoon!
As you can see the bar is well stocked, they have a wonderful selection of draft beer and check out the full page of whiskey selections available! They certainly live up to their name, Whiskey Taco!
We started off with an order of the Bourbon Sriracha chicken wings. They were saucy, juicy and delicious! A tasty start to this festive afternoon in Pekin!
There’s large dining tables opposite the bar and off in this corner over here.
I love this leafy lounge area in the back corner!
The I Heart Tacos wall is cool and there’s gaming machines over here in this corner of the room.
They have signature drinks, a Happy Hour, and drink specials in here on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, back at the bar more food has arrived!
Scott got a Carne Asada taco and a bowl of beans and rice. The beans frightened me for the return ride home, but what are you going to do?
There’s two shots of the patent-pending Turley bite. Scott really leans into the food!
There’s my two tacos and they look fantastic!
I got a Smashburger taco and a Bang Bang Shrimp taco. Let’s dig in and try them out!
The Smashburger taco had a smashburger patty, American cheese, Chipotle mayo, pickle, lettuce and tomato and it was a flavor-filled delight!
The Bang Bang Shrimp was equally tasty with succulent shrimp, tangy slaw and zippy bang bang sauce.
These are original, unique and delicious tacos that you should definitely stop by and try out. They are some of the best tacos I’ve ever had!
And now they’re all gone, but definitely a tasty memory lingers!
The desserts look fantastic, but Scott and I were full and had a drink for dessert instead.
Thanks to everyone at Whiskey Taco for the fantastic service, food and atmosphere and thanks to MBIP Pal and Wheelman Scott Turley for buying lunch, the driving duty and hanging out for the afternoon. It was a blast as always!
