Okay, I’ve gone back and forth with the book I’m working on and I’ve kind of gone back to the original plan I had for it, but I’m still going to incorporate going back to these 19 bars this coming October, so we’ll keep this series going.
This week we’re looking back at the 45th bar I went to on my 365 day journey of hitting a bar a day for an entire year, The 45th bar is a legendary New York City tavern and it’s one of the oldest bars in New York City, McSorley’s Old Ale House.
I distinctly remember thinking after I did this one, “Shit, I’ve still got 320 more of these to do!” Somehow I did it!
There’s a sampling of photos below along with the original captions and then a link to the entire post at the end.

Michael and Scotty are the two hospitable and friendly barkeeps on duty for the evening.
And they quickly served me the first of many double McSorley's mugs of delicious ale. Cheers!
Seated at the corner table were Etta and Elsa, I stopped by to raise a glass with them. Their friend Tom kindly took the photo.
The nightly food specials at McSorley's.
The long wooden bar at McSorley's, where many a mug has spilled ale onto it.
A real wood burning stove in the front room helps warm the joint up.
On my way out I met Olivia and Janet, cheers ladies! And goodnight everybody!
Keng Liu and Stepanie stopped in for a couple mugs of ale at the bar.
