In two weeks it will be the 57th anniversary of the first of three days of an event that was a big part of what would come to be known as “The Summer of Love.”
This event was the Monterey Pop Festival, a three day musical festival that featured established artists such as The Byrds, The Buffalo Springfield, Simon and Garfunkel and The Mamas and Papas, but more importantly it introduced new sounds from lesser known bands and artists such as The Who, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.

MBIP COMING ATTRACTIONS
Monday: I had a rare non-cheeseburger Saturday Night at Rizzi’s Italian Restaurant last night with my friends Tom and Karen. Photos from that dinner will be up tomorrow.
Tuesday: We’re coming to the end of the MBIP Mac and Cheese Tour and our last stop is at Weaver’s Fresh Food and Drink. Then in a week we’re picking the best Mac and Cheese from the tour, so stay tuned for that!
Wednesday: I went to the brand new Sharks exhibit at the Peoria Riverfront Museum and I’ll have photos and a post from that coming up on Wednesday.
Thursday: We’ll be revisiting another bar from my 365 Bar Crawl as I work on my forthcoming book, “A Guy Walks Back Into 19 Bars.”
Friday: Speaking of bars, we’ll be spotlighting a local tavern for the weekly MBIPTGIF Happy Hour series.
