Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, Rizzi’s Italian Restaurant and featuring special guest stars, Tom, Kathy, Alexis and Bekim!
Now please welcome this week’s host, Rizzi’s Italian Restaurant!
Here we are at Rizzi’s Italian Restaurant, one of my favorite restaurants in Peoria!
As usual, the place is packed on Saturday night, but there is a table that’s just opening up. Normally, I’d sit at the bar, but we have two special guests tonight…
And here they are seated at our table, Kathy and Tom! They came in from Normal, Illinois to have dinner and it’s great to have them as dinner guests tonight.
Tom has been working on the history of WWCT Radio and has been interviewing people connected to the glory days of that station and you can read about it by clicking here and his WWCT Archival Interview Page is right here.
I was a frequent guest on WWCT back in those days and Tom interviewed me about my experience and remembrances of WWCT and you can listen to my interview by clicking here.
He’s working on a book about WWCT and in January Tom is going to be a speaker at the American Historical Association annual conference in New York City. He’s going to be discussing WWCT and the impact the station and the people connected to it had on our community. You can read more about the conference by clicking here.
We checked out the menus and ordered our Saturday night dinner. Our waitress was a little shy and didn’t want her picture taken.
But she did take our order and now it’s time for me to take a few photos while the dinner is being prepared.
Here’s some more shots of the main dining room. There’s comfortable booths lining the walls to sit and enjoy the wonderful Italian dishes in here.
Of course they have a wonderful selection of wine and some of it is stored over here.
There’s a nice bar in the back of the room and there’s Alexis shaking up a cocktail behind the bar looking fantastic and flashing us a beautiful smile!
I love the glasses hanging down, they’re very sparkly!
Meanwhile, back at our table…
Our Saturday night dinner is starting to arrive! We started out with two appetizers, the Fried Calamari and an order of Arancini which are fried risotto fritters that are crispy on the outside and filled with rich risotto on the inside.
Both appetizers were delicious and a wonderful start to our Saturday night dinner!
After the appetizers we were served a fresh bread basket and we each got a salad.
I got the Caesar salad which has housemade Caesar dressing and crunchy croutons.
Now the main courses have arrived to our table and they look fantastic!
Kathy got the Lobster Ravioli, Tom ordered the Capellini in Pink Sauce and I chose the Tortellini and Steak.
Wow, the Tortellini and Steak was so flavorful and delicious!
The steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender and tasty. It’s served with tri-colored tortellini with mushrooms, onions and spinach in a rich cream sauce.
It was so satisfying and tasty, all the food at Rizzi’s is made from scratch and it’s some of the best Italian food served in Peoria and beyond!
Kathy and Tom loved their main courses too and they said they’re definitely adding Rizzi’s to their list of restaurants to frequent when they visit Peoria!
Thanks to Bekim and everyone at Rizzi’s for the wonderful Saturday night dinner and thanks to Kathy and Tom for joining me for dinner! It was a fun and wonderful Saturday evening.
Oh and as you noticed, it was a cheeseburger-less Saturday night! I’ll be back to the cheeseburgers next week, I can take a Saturday off now and again!
