Theo’s is an iconic Peoria ice cream and hot dog destination!

It’s been standing tall On Gale Avenue near Sterling since 1994. Since it’s celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, I thought it only fitting to make Theo’s our third stop on this doggone tour!

So it’s off to Theo’s we go!

There it is, the iconic Theo’s building.

I love the neon sign and the ice cream eating penguin on the ceiling. It’s a true landmark Peoria building!

Let’s go up to the window and place this week’s hot dog order!

That’s the owner of Theo’s, Bob Bullock, behind the screened window.

Bob is also the co-owner of another legendary Peoria place, Mike’s Tavern, along with Mark Donahue. Always a pleasure to see Bob!

Theo’s is a cash-only business, so there’s a handy and dandy ATM located on the side of the building.

Just a few minutes after ordering, my lunch was done and bagged and I decided to sit at this outside table over here.

I got a chocolate malt and it was very thick, rich and a sweet treat to start this meal off with! Perfect for this warm summer afternoon!

I also got a chili-cheese tamale and it was delicious! The chili has a nice zingy flavor and the cheese was rich and tasty. After I ate the tamale, I enjoyed a few scoops of the chili and cheese by themselves. A tasty treat for sure!

And now we move on to this week’s star of the show, the chili-cheese dog from Theo’s!

I got it with mustard and chopped onions and it looks absolutely fablous!

Okay, time for this man to bite a dog!

Wow, this is one tasty chili-cheese dog!

As I mentioned earlier, the chili has a nice zingy flavor and the cheese is rich. The mustard and chopped onions top it off perfectly and the bun is bakery fresh. This is a flavorful and top-notch chili-cheese dog!
