We’re up to week number thirteen on this doggone food tour and since that’s an unlucky number, I picked a hot dog destination that I knew wouldn’t disappoint, and that doggy destination is Wonderdog!
Wonderdog is a legendary local hot dog emporium that originally started in East Peoria, but there’s one here in Peoria now and I’ve done a couple blogs from there in the past, so unless we get into a wreck on the way there, it should turn out to be a wonderful hot dog dining experience in spited of the number thirteen looming over this post.
Let’s go and hopefully we’ll arrive there safely on this Tuesday the thirteenth post!
Here we are, we made it safely to our 13th stop of this doggy tour, Wonderdog!
Let’s go in and see what’s happening inside.
I came after the lunch hour rush, so there’s not a crowd in here. Let’s go up to the counter and place our doggone order for this 13th week!
Sandy was working behind the counter and she took our order while flashing a beautiful smile for the MBIP Camera.
While our order is being prepared, we’ll take some photos in here.
There’s a Wonderdog mat on the floor in front of the counter and a cool Wonderdog framed puzzle hanging on the front of it. Hot dog!
There’s some cookies and desert items on the counter along with the daily specials.
You have to love all of the hot dog art hanging on the walls in here!
There’s the condiment station and if you’re over 13-years-old, keep your hot dog away from that ketchup dispenser!
There’s a nice framed PJ Star article about Wonderdog and I love the neon hot dog on the wall above it.
As I looked around for a table, I ran into my friend Phil Raso! It was nice to bump into him and he joined me at a table so he’s the very first surprise guest star on this doggone tour!
Phil has a couple of identities in his life. One of them is a AVP, Mortgage Lender for INB and you can read all about that by clicking here.
He’s also known as Phenomenal Phil and he’s one of the best Magicians and Mind Readers in the Central Illinois area and beyond. Check out Phenomenal Phil by clicking here.
When you combine the two Phil identities, it’s easy to see why he’s known as the, “Mortgage Magician!”
Just as Phil and I settled into a table, Maggie delivered this week’s hot dog lunch with a wonderful smile! Perfect timing!
I got the Wonderdog with cheese and chopped onions along with an order of Waffle Fries. The lunch looks absolutely delicious!
As I dunked the crispy Waffle Fries into the melted cheese sauce, I had a wonderful idea. Why not pour the cheese sauce on top of the Wonderdog?
And so that’s exactly what I did!
Behold the extra cheesy Wonderdog!
Wow, the rich and creamy melted cheese took the Wonderdog to a whole new taste level for me! What a tasty hot dog!

Hot Dog Rating
Try this Wonderdog cheesy hack the next time you stop in, it’s a real taste treat!
I’ll give the cheesy Wonderdog a well deserved and high rating of three and three quarters Wienermobiles!
The Wonderdog has always been a favorite hot dog of mine with the special Wonderdog coney sauce and when you add an extra layer of rich and creamy cheese sauce, you’ve got a fabulous and tasty Wonderdog!
Thanks to Sandy and Maggie for the wonderful service and hospitality and thanks to Phil for being this week’s surprise guest star! It was great to catch up with him!
