Last Sunday was the last day of the 2024 season for Lou’s Drive-In, so of course I had to go and get one last Lou’s hot dog before they close until next spring.
So it’s off to historic Lou’s Drive-In for week number eleven of this doggone tour!
It was a nice, but bright sunny afternoon for the last day of the 2024 season of Lou’s Drive-In.
I always like to sit at the island, so let’s grab a stool and get settled in.
The Lou’s Crew was busy taking orders, but they all paused and flashed some beautiful smiles for the MBIP Camera!
Lily took my final 2024 order for my last Lou’s meal of this summer season.
Of course I had to start my meal off with a frosty mug of Lou’s homemade root beer. The best root beer in the land! Cheers!
There’s the window where you pick up and place your orders to go.
The last day of the season is noted in this sign. Sob!
There’s the other side of the island, the legendary Lou’s popcorn machine and there’s Lily taking a to go order at the aforementioned front window.
I think my order is just about up, so let’s return to my spot at the Lou’s Island.
And there it is. I got a hot dog and an order of fries.
The French Fries were crisp, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Now on to the star of the show…
The Lou’s hot dog!
I got the dog with mustard and chopped onions and it looks fantastic.
It’s a tasty all-beef wiener and the bun is bakery fresh.
A wonderful and tasty last hot dog of the season at Lou’s Drive-In!
As I was finishing up my meal, Michael (in the middle) came up and said hi. We both lived in New York at the same time and I haven’t seen him for years! It was great to see him and catch up on things!
I got a photo of him and his friends and they are from left, Erik, Michael and Scott!
It was wonderful to have a nice chat with all of them on this last day at Lou’s Drive-In!
Goodbye, Lou’s Drive-In, see you in 2025!

Hot Dog Rating
The hot dogs and atmosphere at Lou’s Drive-In are unbeatable.
It’s an iconic Peoria institution and I’ll give the hot dog a well-deserved rating of three and a half Wienermobiles.
And even though the summer is somewhat over on this post Labor Day Tuesday, we still have a few more weeks left on this hot dog eating tour, so the summer isn’t officially over till we say so. So there!
