Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Jim’s Steak House and featuring special guest stars, Amber, Joe, Nick, Mary, Lee Ann and Ben and Kate.
Now, please welcome this week’s host, Jim’s Steak House!
Here we are at Jim’s Steak House in beautiful downtown Peoria.
Jim’s is definitely one of my favorited Peoria dining destinations and I thought since the blog has been on a two week hiatus that this would be a great way to kick off the first Saturday Night post of 2025!
Let’s go in and let the evening begin!
Once you’re in the building, you take the elevator to the basement and whoomp, here we are at Jim’s Steak House!
As soon as I walked in I ran into Nick Comfort who owns and operates Jim’s with his sister, Kristin.
They’re the third generation of Comfort’s to be in charge of Jim’s and Nick said Kristin had the night off, so he was pulling double duty, but he still took time to pose for the MBIP Camera! You have to love that and it’s always great to see Nick!
I looked into the dining room and saw a couple of familiar faces, and if you’re a regular reader of this blog, you probably know who they are, but I’m going to tell you anyway…
It’s my friends and frequent guest stars, Amber and Joe!
They’re both looking fabulous, as always and it’s always a blast to have them along for the ride…or in this case, for the Saturday night dinner!
Mary was our beautiful waitress and she’s been on the blog before so it was wonderful to see her again!
We checked out the menu and placed our dinner orders with her.
Through the miracle of these here interwebs, here’s our appetizer already!
We got an order of the stuffed mushrooms which arrived covered in a thick layer of cheese. They were absolutely delicious.
I should’ve taken a photo of a single mushroom, but I forgot to. Hey, I’ve been off for two weeks, cut me a little slack, okay?
There’s a little fuzzy-wuzzy action photo of Amber and Joe enjoying the mushrooms.
Okay, the appetizer has been eaten, time for me to abandon Amber and Joe and get some further photos of Jim’s Steak House on a Saturday night. Let’s go!
Here’s a shot from the back of the restaurant and there’s tables lining the side wall.
Speaking of the wall, here’s some photos on the wall that I haven’t seen before, from the top: There’s shirtless comedian, Bert Kreicher, former Tonight Show host, Jay Leno, movie star and former SNL regular, Chevy Chase and my favorite photo in here, Warren Zevon, autographed from a visit in 1994. Aahoo!
It’s just a short trip through this space from the dining room to the large bar area in here.
There’s the classic bar in here and the nice mirror backdrop, check out the beers on tap and there’s the pretty bartender on duty, Lee Ann.
They have a beautiful piano bar area in here and there’s Ben tickling the ivories and singing a song…but hey…where’s Kate? Oh well, that gives us an excuse to stop back in here after dinner!
And speaking of dinner…
Back at our table, that’s exactly what’s starting to happen.
I got a cup of the cheesy potato soup and Amber and Joe got salads. My salad photos didn’t turn out. Damn the MBIP Camera!
Damn, damn, damn the MBIP Camera!
Here’s our main courses, Amber got the Fettuccine Alfredo, Joe got the Medallions of Steak Au Poivre and I got the Cajun Ribeye Steak.
All the dishes look utterly wonderful! Time to dig into the first Saturday night dinner of 2025!
There’s a couple of action shots of Amber and Joe enjoying their dinners. They both raved and said the food was tasty and excellent!
I’ve never had the Cajun Ribeye in here and it was one of the most flavorful steaks I’ve ever eaten.
It had a nice amount of spices and it was so juicy and as tender as you can imagine! Every bite was a morsel of heaven-sent steak! So delicious and tasty!
And we popped back in the bar and there’s Kate with Ben! They’re sounding great and it’s always wonderful to enjoy them at Jim’s Steak House piano bar! Check out their website here and enjoy them live on Friday and Saturday nights at Jim’s Steak House!
When I lived in New York, I used to love visiting some of the classic old school New York steak houses in that city and Jim’s Steak House is as close to a classic New York City steak house as you’re going to find in and around Peoria. If you’ve never tried Jim’s Steak House you’re missing out on one of Peoria’s most classic and wonderful restaurants. And if you have been here, stop on back and show this place some local support!
Thanks to Mary, Nick, Lee Ann, Ben and Kate and everyone at Jim’s for a fabulous Saturday night dinner and thanks to Amber and Joe for joining me and being our Saturday night guests of honor!
