I’m going to start kind of a quickety blickety Thursday series here while I continue to work on my book, Confessions of a Spiteful Writer.
Below is a photo of a photo in the MBIP World Headquarters, a book update and links to my two videos of the week on the MSOL YouTube Channel.
Enjoy and now I’m going to go try and finish the 14th chapter of the book!

Every Picture In The MBIP Headquarters Tells A Story: Amy winehouse
I can’t remember where I got his photo of Amy Winehouse, but I’ve always really liked it.
I’ll never forget the day I found out that she died. It was in July of 2011 and I was living in New York City. It was in the afternoon and I went to my computer and looked at my Twitter account and “Amy Winehouse” was listed in the trending column on that stupid social media site. I remember saying out loud to myself, “Oh fuck, I hope she isn’t dead,” kind of half joking to myself. I clicked on the stupid link and sure as shit on a shingle, Amy Winehouse was dead. Fuck.
Usually celebrity deaths don’t affect me that much, but this made me feel really bad for her and the world in general. I don’t think she was ready for what fame can do to someone and I think it ruined her life. Supposedly one of the last things she said to her bodyguard before she was found dead was: "If I could, I would give it back just to walk down the street with no hassle."
She was so talented and it was sad reading about her after she had died which I proceeded to do that entire afternoon.
I realized that fame and notoriety is something that a lot of people chase, but when you finally catch it, it comes with the price tag of completely losing your privacy and the peace and quiet that is no one knowing who you are as you walk amongst other people in this world. That can be jarring and too upsetting for some people and I think it was for Amy Winehouse. I wish she could have just sung her songs for herself and a few friends and lived a happier life.
She was just 27-years-old when she died.
Whenever I look at this picture, which is hung up in my bedroom, I think about that afternoon when I clicked on that stupid Twitter trending link. It’s almost always after I first wake up in the morning and I usually say, “fuck it” and then I move along to start another fucking day in this fucking ridiculous world. Fuck.

Update On Confessions Of A Spiteful Writer
The book is moving along very slowly, but at least it’s moving along! I took two weeks off from the blog but truthfully one week I just kind of rested up from not having to do a daily blog and didn’t do much of anything! Hey, sometimes shit doesn’t happen! I have gotten over a part that was fucking me up and that was writing a lot about my night job. I realized the book was about my writing and not working nights in New York City, so I cut a lot of that out and feel it’s a lot better for it.
I’m currently in the middle of the 14th chapter and hope to finish that this week.

Okay here’s three random paragraphs from the book below.

I was excited on the subway ride home and I went home and called Clare and told her I might have a job and a place to output fishwrap for free. She said that sounded great and it was nice to have some positivity happening in my life.
I went to the P&G Bar which was located a couple blocks from me on the corner of Amsterdam and 73rd and had a few celebratory drinks with Steve the bartender and told him that I might have landed a job in the city.
Steve handed me a beer and said, “This one’s on the house. Welcome to New York City, my friend!”
