One place I’ve been meaning to go to is a restaurant on Farmington Road that I’ve heard has great food and a friendly atmosphere. The name of the place is called The Hungry Moose and the reason I haven’t gone yet is that it closes at 2PM. They open up at 6AM, so they kind of operate on different hours than I keep. Well, today I’m making an effort to start out early and check out the tenderloin at the Hungry Moose, so let’s make tracks!
Winter is here! It snowed last Friday night and we had over 997 inches of snow and after midnight, canned hams were falling from the sky. It was kind of frightening. I need to get a helmet.
Jimmy's Bar is certainly looking festive this time of year!
And here we are at the Hungry Moose, it looks like a nice place.
According to the sign, the tenderloin is, "Yummy." And help is wanted, so here you go, Hungry Moose: "Help."
Let's go inside and see what's the story, morning glory.
It's very nice in here and since I'm near closing time, there's plenty of places to sit, let's go get settled in.
They don't have beer in here, so I ordered an iced tea with lemon and here's super-cute Janna, our waitress for the day serving it up.
Here's Sharon, the friendly and pretty owner of the place. She and her husband have been operating this place for over nine years. She told me they have a big breakfast group of regulars that come here early in the morning. Some day I may have to try to rise early to check that out.
Here's Taylor who was working behind the counter. This place is filled with pretty women, who cares about the food at this point?
This is my view from my table. Sharon said it's usually a lot busier on Sunday's, but it's almost closing time and what with the snow and the canned ham's falling from the sky, lots of people aren't venturing out this weekend.
Comfy red leather booths line the far wall over here.
There's lots of mooses in here...is that the correct plural form for moose? Oh well, it is now.
Here's two more...
Holiday mooses line the counter up front...
Here's a moose silhouette in the front window.
There's even moose earrings dangling from Sharon's earlobes!
When I got back to my table, Janna told me they had made up a complimentary order of their fried onions, how nice! And they look great!
They offered up ranch dressing to dip them in, but I preferred ketchup and yes, it was Heinz ketchup, accept no substitute! These are so delicious, by the way, it was worth the trip just for these!
Here's Janna with the main course!
Here's a bird's eye view. I got the tenderloin and an order of the Moose Chips which are homemade potato chips.
This is one thick tenderloin and the breading looks extra crunchy and good!
Okay, it's all dressed up and ready for the first bite. That bun is toasted to perfection!
Sharon took a shot of me attacking the sandwich. Luckily I've got a big mouth!
This is a great tenderloin! Really crunchy on the outside and lots of juicy porky goodness on the inside.
Here's Deanna, who cooked up this feast. I tell you, it's just one pretty woman after another in this place!
Okay, this is all I can handle for the afternoon, I'm stuffed!
Once again, the to-go box is stuffed. I had a great time here and this is one of the most friendly and fun places in the world. Check out the Hungry Moose when you're hungry for some good food and fun times.
And the next day I ate the leftover tenderloin, cold, sans bun with some of the magical Kathy Cleveland mustard on top for breakfast. I'm really starting to like cold tenderloins when I get up, try it some time and we'll see you all tomorrow.
