Well, it’s hard to believe, but this tenderloin tour is close to coming to an end. One more to go after today and this porky party is over! But there’s no time to dwell on that today, I need to get out and get tenderloin number nineteen!
And today’s tenderloin was requested by Marie Blackburn who contacted me via facecrack and said that the Norwood Pub ‘N’ Grub had an excellent tenderloin in addition to being a fun and hospitable bar. So that’s today’s destination and Marie said she might even show up, so there’s the possibility of a guest star today! Let’s go and get this party started!
Well, what a difference a week makes! There’s still snow on the side of the roads, but the roads are all clear as opposed to last week’s tenderloin outing. We’ll be there in no time.
See, we’re here already, let’s park and get this tenderloin party started!
It looks like a nice neighborhood bar, let’s go in and see what’s shaking inside of this joint.
It’s very nice inside! There’s a little crowd at the corner of the bar, but plenty of seats in the middle, let’s go snag one and get settled in.
Paula, the pretty bartender on duty serves up a cold bottle of Budweiser with an award-winning smile. So far, so good!
My view of the right side of the bar from my perch. As you can see, there’s plenty of choices of bottled beer to be had here!
And here’s the left side showing off a generous supply of spirits and if you look real closely, a t-shirt...
See? I don’t lie, MBIP only serves up, truth, justice, the American Way aloing with eighteen tenderloins, a river of Budweiser and a corn fritter here and there. HIke!
Here’s the trio of taps available at the bar.
All of a sudden I heard, “Hey, are you the tenderloin guy?” And I turned around and it was Chris (on the right), who’s the chef here, along with Roger who’s a regular at the bar. I assured him I was and he said he’d cook us up a good one when we were ready to order. I wasn’t ready to order, but appreciated the hospitality, this is a friendly place!
A pool table stands catacorner from the end of the bar.
Circular tables and stools stand directly behind the bar.
A long wooden railing and stools line the far wall of the bar.
There’s two dart machines at the end of the bar with some unwanted sunshine forcing its way into the bar. Where are the blackout curtains when you need them?
A shot from the back of the bar, check out the Christmas lights dotting the ceiling, I hope they keep those up year round, I guess I’ll have to make a trip back in a month or two to find out!
As I head back to my stool at the bar, who shows up but Marie, who suggested this place! We sat down, got a beer and had a great conversation about the blog, Peoria, today’s culture, music and a lot of other topics.
Soon it was time to place our order, we decided to split a tenderloin and an order of onion rings. Marie said the onion rings were really something special. Paula led me back to the kitchen to see Chris in action, getting ready to cook up our order.
And here he is throwing some buns on the griddle to grill them.
The tenderloins are fresh here and pounded out daily. Here’s the egg wash and batter that they get dredged in. Chris told me there’s a blend of secret seasonings in them that give their tenderloin a unique taste.
Here’s lunch being fried up, it smells fantastic back here!
Check out the Cheap Trick plates! I’m ready to “Surrender” to lunch...sorry about that!
I’m back at the bar and the condiments are out...tenderloin time is just about to happen!
And away we go, Chris proudly serves up this week’s tenderloin!
It looks fabulous and remember that’s just a half order! Marie’s got the other half but I don’t want to bug her with photos while she’s eating.
Here it is all dressed up with onions, mustard and pepper..
Delicious, those special seasonings that Chris talked about really give it a special and unique flavor.
And check out this leaning tower of onion rings, they every bit as good as Marie promised, light, crispy and bursting with flavor!
Burp, no leftovers this week!
Cheers from Roger, Marie and Yours Fooly! Thanks to Marie for not only suggesting Norwood Pun ‘N’ Grub, but for showing up and hanging out, it was a great time! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
Tenderloin Rating
Three Porky Pigs, a tasty and porky tenderloin and don’t forget to get the onion rings when you go, probably the best I’ve ever had!
