Jack’s On Adams has become one of my favorite spots in Peoria, it’s a fun and friendly place, there’s darts, drinks, delicious food and live music!
They’re open for lunch and dinner, so let’s head over their for lunch and we have a special guest star who you may have seen on a stage around town!
Scroll down to see our lunch at Jack’s On Adams and meet our special luncheon guest star!
Here we are at Jack’s On Adams near the corner of Adams and Main Street. I love the Jack’s awning out front!
Lets go in and as you can see, there’s a nice luncheon crowd in here today!
And there’s Jack Berres, the owner of Jack’s and one of the nicest guys in the world!
Always fun to see him and catch up on things. He said business has been great in here!
Emma was doing bartender duty behind the bar and she served me up an iced tea with a beautiful smile!
I decided this would be our luncheon dining table and set my iced tea down there.
I’m early, as always, so let’s go get some photos before our special luncheon guest of honor arrives for this week’s luncheon fun.
Here’s some shots of the impressive long and winding bar in here.
They are “Peoria Proud” and Peoria is proud to have Jack’s as part of Peoria’s downtown scene!
I love the neon signage in here!
There’s the stage at the front of the dining room.
Jack’s has live music throughout the week and every weekend. Check out their facecrack page for upcoming bands and events.
They have a state-of-the-art dart room to the side of the dining room.
Jack’s is one of the few bars in town with a room devoted to darts, so if you’re an avid dart fan, you need to check this out!
Meanwhile, back at our lunch table…
This is my friend, Mike O’Brien, remember I said you may have seen him on stage around town? Well, that’s how I met Mike, after an onstage concert.
A couple years ago I was wandering around the Heart of Illinois Fair and there was a sign in front of the Opera House that said, “Tonight: Mike O’Brien Becomes Gene Autry!”
I’m a huge Gene Autry fan, so I paid the fifteen dollar cover charge to see the show and I was blown away!
Mike sauntered out the onstage deck clad in an authentic Gene Autry outfit: Big white cowboy hat, fancy, studded jeans, a plaid cowboy shirt complete with a red plaid kerchief and highly polished cowboy boots with a a golden plate on each of the front of the boots.
He sang all the Gene Autry songs, pitch-perfect including Gene’s signature hit, “Back In The Saddle Again.” If you shut your eyes, you’d think Gene Autry had risen from the dead and was performing this show, Mike is just that good!
In between songs, Mike told stories about Gene Autry growing up, stories from his films and rodeo days and it was one of the most entertaining shows I have ever witnessed.
Mike did a meet and greet after the show and we met and struck up a friendship that has carried on through the years and so today I’m honored to have Mike O’Brien/Gene Autry as our special luncheon guest!
Everyone please give Mike a big round of applause!
Okay, time to check out the menu. They specialize in Jack’s signature Peoria Tavern Pizza, but there’s many other selections to choose from.
Check out the menu by clicking here.
Jake Jacob was sitting at the bar and told me he reads MBIP, which I always love to hear. He came over and he’s in Sales at Brewers Distributing, so I told him to say hi to Jim Waller!
We traded stories about Peoria, bars and Jake went to Notre Dame High School, so I told him about the old days when it was Bergan High School.
Here’s a nice shot of Jake and Mike behind the bar under the Jack’s logo!
Before you know it, Jack arrives with our appetizer selection!
We got the JackD Up Shrimp and they look amazing as always!
The jumbo shrimp is lightly breaded and then deep-fried and then tossed in the house signature sauce, the JACKD UP sweet heat honey sauce.
They look and smell absolutely fabulous!
I’ve had these several times in here and they are always so flavorful and tasty!
The house-made JACKd Up sweet heat honey sauce is such a wonderful sauce that captures just right amount of heat and sweet and these are one of my favorite appetizers in town!
A unique flavor and dish that can only be had at Jack’s On Adams.
Mike was blown away by them!
Shortly after our fabulous shrimp appetizers our main courses have arrived!
Mike got a sausage Jack’s pizza and it looks wonderful! The pizza here is made from scratch and it’s Jack’s special Peoria Tavern Style Pizza. The crust is made from scratch at Trefzger’s Bakery, so this truly is a home-town pizza pie!
I got the Big Bird Chicken sandwich with Cole Slaw and it looks so tasty and inviting!
The Big Bird is a fried chicken sandwich (you can also get it grilled) and I got mine JACKd UP with cole slaw and onions on top.
The chicken is breaded and dressed up in the JACKd UP sweet heat honey sauce. As you can see, this is a huge sandwich, so it’s lucky I’ve got such a big mouth and can actually take a full bite out of this flavor-filled monster of a sandwich!
Wow, they’ve taken the idea of a chicken sandwich to an industry high here at Jack’s On Adams!
The chicken is crisp on the outside and so tender and juicy as you bite into it! The JACKEd UP sweet heat honey sauce adds a nice sweet and spicy layer of flavor and the onions and cole slaw add crispiness and richness to the sandwich!
Plus the bun is bakery fresh and this is one motherclucking fabulous sandwich!
Thanks to Mike for being this week’s luncheon guest star, always a treat to hang out with him!
Great to meet Jake and Emma and always wonderful to see Jack Berres, owner of Jack’s on Adams!
