We’re up to the thirteenth week of this corny tour and let’s hope that number doesn’t bring us bad luck!
This week we’re going to sample some mini corn dogs at the Hungry Moose and we’ve got a guest star joining us on this stop. So let’s get rolling and head over to the Hungry Moose and begin the thirteenth week of this corn dog tour!
Here we are at the Hungry Moose. I haven’t been here in a while, so it’s nice to be stopping back here. I’ve been coming to this restaurant since it was originally located on Farmington Road. In fact the first post I ever did on this place is just about ten years ago in 2013!
Let’s go in and start our thirteenth week of eating corn dogs!
As I step into the dining room, I think I see our special guest star in the booth over there…
Yes! It’s my friend, Matt who we ran into last week after not seeing him for quite some time!
Matt’s a photographer and a writer and I mentioned last week that we haven’t seen him because he was living in Olso, Norway and he was managing a Sauerkraut Theme Park over there.
Well, Matt’s back here in Peoria and he’s currently working on a photography/journal project. He didn’t want to talk to much about it right now because it’s still in the formidable stages, but he did tell me that the working title of this project is “The Secret Society of Lederhosen.” I can’t wait for this!
It’s great to see Matt and catch up on life and lederhosen with this fine fellow!
We checked out the menu and there’s the Mini Corn Dogs. I was a little puzzled by the description of them as “an American past time in miniture.” I can’t quite wrap my head around that description and there’s also a spellcheck alert moment happening, but hey, what are you going to do?
Danielle was our pretty and friendly waitress and she took our order and flashed a beautiful smile for the MBIP Camera!
There’s a nice square bar in the middle of the dining room and comfortable booths line the wall opposite of it.
Speaking of bars, there’s the salad bar and there’s some tables behind it.
There’s no corn dogs at the salad bar, so I took the picture and quickly skedaddled.
And yes, it’s always a good day when you can work in the word, “skedaddled.” And I just did it twice…to quote Thomas Petty: “It’s good to be king.”
There’s a gaming area located discreetly over in this corner for all of you gamblers out there.
Meanwhile, back at our booth where I had abandoned our guest star of the week, our food has arrived!
Matt got an egg and a half order of French Toast, yep, that’s a half order!
There’s Matt buttering the toast with his eyes closed, the talent this man has just never ceases to amaze me!
Okay, it’s corn dog time and here’s the mini corn dogs and I also got an order of French fries.
I’m pleasantly surprised by the looks of the mini corn dogs, usually mini corn dogs are frozen, but these look like they were made fresh in-house! Looks like the number thirteen won’t be a jinx after all!
I tried the French fries first and these were delicious fries! These weren’t out of a bag either, they’re hand-cut with some of the skin still on and they taste fantastic!
Now on to the star of the show…
The mini corn dogs.
I speared one with a fork, dragged it through a pile of mustard and it was delicious! I’m fairly certain they were made and breaded right here in the Hungry Moose kitchen!
The breading was crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. And the hot dog was beefy, savory and tasty!

CORN DOG RATING
{Based On A Four Corn Dog Rating System)
I’ll give these mini corn dogs a high rating of three and a half corn dogs! Very tasty and probably the best mini corn dogs I’ve ever had!
Thanks to Matt for being the special guest star this week, it’s always a treat to see him and chat about all things lederhosen!
