Last Friday was Joan Jett’s Birthday!
In honor of this, we’ve got six links to Joan Jett online articles and a video from an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman.
And then there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions as to what’s happening on the blog this week!

Sunday Links
Joan Jett: Biography - This is a nice, concise biography of Joan Jett and I learned that The Who helped her make her first album, which I didn’t know.
Joan Jett Reflects on The Runaways, Breakup Was 'Devastating' - I love how she’s still really angry about being treated like a second-class person in the world of rock ‘n roll just because she’s a woman. I wouldn’t want to piss her off!
Album Histories Monthly: Joan Jett – ‘I Love Rock ‘n Roll’ - A feature article on Joan Jett’s career-making hit, “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” and there’s also links at the end of the article to other features on Joan Jett.
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts Smash Genre (And Gender) Boundaries - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts got inducted into The Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. This is their biography from the website and a video of them performing “Bad Reputation” at the ceremony.
Joan Jett’s Life in Photos - My favorite is the one with Debbie Harry, Joey Ramone and David Johansen, posing with Joan.
Joan Jett: ‘My Lot in Life Is to Battle’ - There’s a great quote from Iggy Pop in this NY Times 2018 article: “Joan Jett was nobody’s sidecar.”
Joan Jett on Letterman in 1987 - I like this video because in addition to the great song, there’s a fun interview at the end of it.

MBIP COMING ATTRACTIONS
Monday: Last Saturday night I had dinner at Brienzo’s Wood Fired Pizza with my friend Jason and then had some beer from Pour Bros. Craft Taproom and after that I enjoyed the live music of Brett Conlin & The Midnight Miles in the Heritage Square Courtyard. It was a trifecta of entertainment last Saturday and you can read and see photos of this fun evening tomorrow!
Tuesday: We’re up to our fourth week of the MBIP Corn Dog Tour and this week we went to Jack’s On Adams and got the miniature corn dog appetizer and took them up a notch by making a special sauce for them!
Wednesday: I had lunch with my friend Karina at the Fieldhouse Peoria where she’s hosting the annual Edtoberfest Chili Cookoff on Sunday, October 15th and you can find out more about this event next Wednesday!
Thursday: I’ll have an update on my forthcoming book, Travelings With Marty in another MBIP Thursday Month of the Book Club post.
Friday: I was a guest on two episodes of the wildly fun and entertaining Radio Rewind Podcast and of course I took photos of the experience and that will be posted Friday along with the dates when these episodes will air!
Saturday: We’ll be cruising back in time for another Meanwhile, Back In Peoria’s Past post.
