This week we’re having lunch at The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill in Campustown and we’re meeting not one, but two special guest stars today! And they’ve got a an important announcement for today’s post.
Intrigued? You should be!
Keep on scrolling and find out who these two mysterious guest stars are and what this exciting announcement is all about!
Here we are at The Fielldhouse Bar & Grill in Campustown on Main Street.
They have a nice patio area to eat and have a drink or three outside, but we’re meeting our guests inside, so let’s go in and get this week’s luncheon episode started!
There’s the bar with bartender Randy behind it doing the afternoon bartender duty stuff.
Normally if I was eating alone, I’d sit here, but as I keep mentioning, we’re meeting not one, but two special guest stars…
And there they are at that table over there in the dining room, let’s go over and say hi and I’ll introduce you to them!
This is Karina, whom I’ve known since the early days of the blog back in 2013 when she was working at The Publik House and invited me over there for a cheeseburger. And she’s seated with the owner of The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill, Ryan.
The two of them are friends and they’re hosting an event in here in a couple of weeks called the Edtoberfest, which is a chili cookoff and this is the third year that it’s happening here at the Fielldhouse. I’ll let Karina explain it to you in her own words.
Oh Karina…
Karina: My husband, Eddie Hennessey died May 9th, 2018 from an incurable type of brain cancer (glioblastoma multiforme). His birthday was May 8th and he had just turned 34.
Shortly after his death, I decided to create the Edward P. Hennessey Scholarship at Bradley University. The scholarship is for a history major that displays financial need. I did this because Eddie and I both graduated from Bradley with bachelor’s in History. He was very passionate about history, education, and the entire learning process.
There are several ways that we earn money for this scholarship: First, there’s a Go Fund Me page: Click on the link here if you’d care to donate in advance.
Secondly, Ryan created the Koala Burger (with burger ingredients that Ed loved) at The Fieldhouse and part of the proceeds from its sale goes to the scholarship fun.
Thirdly, Ryan and I will be hosting a chili cook off competition at the Fieldhouse on Sunday, October 15th from Noon to 5PM. All monies raised from the competition will go directly to the scholarship fund. There are three categories for the competitors - Most Creative, Spiciest, and People’s Choice. There’s still spots open if you’d like to compete in this fun chili cookoff.
If you’d like to be part of the Chili Cookoff and enter your brand of chili in the contest or order tickets in advance, please feel free to email me at: hennessey.karina@gmail.com.
Tickets can also be purchased at the door the day of the cookoff on Sunday, October 15th.
We hope to see you there for this fun event honoring the memory of Eddie Hennessey!

We ordered lunch off of the menu and there’s the aforementioned Koala burger on the menu, which part of the proceeds help to benefit the Edward P. Hennessey Scholarship Fund.
There’s the beers on tap and the beer selection is featured on the wall over here.
The daily specials and merch list is featured on this board over here and there’s some of the Fieldhouse clothing on display in here.
There’s a Bradley basketball mural on the wall over here as well as framed sports jerseys.
Behind this wall is a discreet gaming area for all of you gamblers out there!
Meanwhile, back at our table, I noticed Karina’s unique earrings. They’re mini Kraft Macaroni and Cheese boxes, how cool! I love it!
And here’s our food for our lunch today.
I got the tomato soup and a side salad. Karina ordered the star order of the day…
The aforementioned Koala Burger, which gives part of the proceeds to the Edward P. Hennessey college foundation fund!
It looks absolutely fabulous!
Check it out, it’s an amazing burger topped with white cheddar, bacon, grilled red onion, a jalapeno wrapped in a wrapped in a wonton, deep fried and covered in a spicy BBQ sauce. It’s served on a bakery-fresh brioche bun.
There’s Karina sampling the burger and she said it is a taste-sensation that you definitely need to stop by and sample here at The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill!
Thanks to her and Ryan for meeting me and having lunch, it was a fun afternoon at The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill!
Mark Sunday, October 15th on your calendar to attend this fun and tasty Chili Cookoff!
And if you can’t make the event, please help out by contributing to the Edward P. Hennessey Scholarship Fund at Bradley University.
