Last week there was an Underground Pop-Up Event happening at The Third Chance Bar and Lounge. I’ve never been to an Underground Pop-Up Event, so I figured it was time to go to one!
So let’s go!
The Third Chance Bar and Lounge is part of the 3300 Event Center. It’s located just to the side of it and here’s the entrance.
Let’s go in and see what’s happening inside.
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by an open bar and that’s always a nice start to the evening!
Dave was the bartender on duty and here he is serving me up a beer assisted by Jen, who’s flashing a beautiful smile!
Behind the bar are tables, a ping-pong table, state-of-the-art dart boards and a complete gaming area in the back. Ncie!
There’s another room over here and this is where the action will be happening tonight!
There’s pool tables, a foosball table, dart boards and other games and tables back here.
Up in the front of the room are tables, chairs and a performing stage area in the front corner.
There’s the stars of tonight’s show, Mama Said String Band doing a quick sound check on the aforementioned stage. We’ll be seeing more of them soon!
Here’s Jen again with one of the hosts for tonight’s Undergournd Pop-Up Event, Sarah Marie Dillard!
Sarah is also opening up the show and you can read more about her if you continue to keep on scrolling downwards!
The stage is all set…
A nice crowd has arrived and it’s standing room only in here…looks like…
It’s Showtime!
Ladies and gentlemen…Sarah Marie Dillard!
It’s always a treat to see Sarah perform her wonderful and original music.
Sarah is a Central Illionis singer/songwriter, educator and entrepreneur. In addition to solo shows, Sarah is the band leader for her SoulFolk trio Sarah & The Underground.
She’s also a private music educator for her teaching collective, The Underground School of Sound.
Sarah is also the founder and host of “The Listening Room,” Peoria’s first and only mobile open mic community that meets every Tuesday evening for music, camaraderie and fun in select locations in and around the Peoria area.
She sounded wonderful and put on an entertaining opening show. The crowd loved her and gave an energetic response throughout the entire set.
Thanks for your lovely and vibrant music and all you do for Peoria, Sarah!
Here’s the other host for this Undergournd Pop-Up Event, Roxy Baker!
Always a pleasure to see Roxy, who is the host of the daily afternoon radio show, Rock With Roxy on 105.7 the X Rocks. Tune in Roxy and turn her up!
Here’s Sarah introducing the headliners for this evening’s show…
Mama Said String Band!
Mama Said String Band performs music that is beyond definition, it’s that original and mind-blowing! They had the crowd mesmerized from the first notes they played and sang!
The band consists of Katie “Didit” Caudill on bass and vocals, David O’Neal on strings and vocals, Kaitlen Farmer on guitar and vocals and Kris Potts on mandolin.
The music is a merry mix of bluegrass, pop, jazz, country, doo-wop, soul and it’s blended to make a joyous noise like you’ve never had the pleasure to hear until you see this talented quartet perform it!
The crowd loved it and gave the band enthusiastic praise all evening!
What a wonderful evening of original and mind-expanding music!
Thanks to Sarah Marie Dillard and Mama Said String Band for a fun and fabulous evening!
After the show, the band posed for photos with fans and it was wonderful to meet them!
A splendid time was had by all!
