What do you get when you combine free Butch’s Pizza with The Red Barn? Butch’s Pizza Party at The Red Barn!
I think this is the first picture I've ever taken of the Red Barn in the daytime. And hopefully it's the last, it's too fucking bright out here, let's go inside and bask in the darkness!
Every Saturday Randy makes his special Coney Dogs for a buck apiece. We're talking about having a Coney Dog Party in the future, so stay tuned for that!
Let's go in and get this party started.
Wow, never seen the bar totally empty before. I told everyone the party would start at 5PM and of course I'm over an hour early, so what should we do with this extra time on our hands?
We'll drink some beer, of course and here's Thomas with the first one of the day! Cheers!
Cory showed up a few sips into the first beer. He's a musician and plays in two bands, The Joe Stamm Band and Simply Bent.
Alright, the party has officially begun as co-hosts of the party have arrived: Tim and Colleen Carey. Tim and his family own Butch's Pizza and he's generously offered to give out free Butch's Pizza for the evening! The three of us used to work together at Fleming Potter years ago when all of our collective hair was a few shades darker!
And here's a stack of the Butch's pizzas on top of the bar. This is just about half of what Tim and Colleen brought. Nice!
Terry and Tony from Khaki Jack's have the distinction of being the first two guests to arrive to the party! For those of you keeping score, Khaki Jack's was week number 39 on our Year of Pizza Tour!
Greg and Roxy showed up with a little gift bag! It looks like Greg's been growing his beard since the Heart of Illinois Fair happened! Let's see what's in the bag!
Vintage swizzle sticks! How cool! The one on the far right is one from the Playboy Club and in the middle is a Brass Monkey! Thanks Roxy and Greg!
Okay, time for the first pizza to go into the oven, it's a white garlic pizza!
Thomas went home for a break and Cherry has taken over bartending duties for the early evening.
John, Brennan and De Ingles settled into this booth. John and De are veterans of this pizza tour and joined me on week number 44 at Michael's Italian Feast. And now is as good of a time as any for a subliminal message coming at you in 3...2...1...Smiley Graphix!
Jenny and MBIP Contributing Writer, Chip are flashing a mini flyer for the upcoming production of Cabaret at the Peoria Players Theatre that Chip is directing and Jenny's going to be appearing in. Check out more information here. And here's a list of the cast members appearing in the play. Oh and it's rated Mature, but Chip said he'd sneak me in anyway, so be looking for a post on that in about a month!
We're up to the third Butch's Pizza of the evening and Tim has been slaving away cooking the pies for over an hour now and doing a great job, everyone is loving the pizza!
And driving that point home is Big Perm, the host of The Big Perm Show heard every week on Sunday at 8PM with his co-host Vic Nasty. At 9:30PM I do my segment, "The Marty Monologues—Kind Of Like The Vagina Monologues, But With A Real Dick!" Great to see Big Perm in person and you need to check out his website right here!
This is an honor! Pete actually left Khaki Jack's to come to the party! Always great to see Pete!
MBIP Contributing Writer and frequent guest star, Bob Gordon showed up and now the party is in full swing!
The bar is all filled up...hey, I see two familiar faces over there...
Tim and Amber! Two of my favorite people in the whole wide world! Glad they both could make it!
Check it out, Thomas made it back and here he is on the other side of the bar chatting with Pete.
Kurt and Christine are regular readers of MBIP and came for the pizza party after reading about it and this is the first time I'm meeting them! It turns out that they're both Bergan graduates too and they're friends with my cousin John! And of course, now we must cue this up! Great to meet both of them!
Tony took the camera and got a shot of me giving the MBIP one finger salute.
Keeping the festivities going, Kurt bought each of us a shot of tequila...
Cheers!
Here's Bart and Tara. Bart's originally from Peoria, but like me, he moved out to New York years ago, unlike me, he's still there! Bart's an actor, singer and a Broadway veteran who's appeared in Les Mis playing the part of Valjean. He's also a singer in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. You can read more about Bart on his IMDb page. And you can hear him on The Big Perm Show right here!
Here I am with MBIP pal, Jeanette and her boyfriend, Tim. Tim's a musician and is a member of The Matthew Curry Band. Check out the band's website here and their facecrack page right here. Great to see both of them!
The party is starting to wind down as Cherry uncorks a couple of beers, She did a great job of bartending for the evening!
Here's Bart with Colleen getting some of the last of the pizza.
I went to the4 bathroom and left the camera at the bar and Tim and Colleen took a couple of "selfies" to surprise me!
Ha! Love i!
The pizza's just about gone and the party is coming to a close...
Red Barn Veteran, Jim showed up too late for Butch's Pizza but for a consolation prize he got his picture taken with Amber! Thanks to everyone who showed up and special thanks to The Red Barn and to Tim, Colleen and everyone at Butch's Pizza for supplying a ton of tasty pizza! We'll see you all tomorrow!
